Singapore ( together with Israel) joined the programme as Security Cooperative Participants. Dun really noe what this means, but it probably means if we order the aircraft, we'll get it before these countries do:
Level 1 partners ( contributed the most) -
1)UK (US$ 2 billion)
Level 2 partners( contribute a little less) -
1)Italy ( US$ 1 billion)
2) Netherlands(US$ 800 million)
Level 3 partners ( contribute least) -
1) canada ( US$ 400 million)
2)Turkey ( US$ 175 million)
3) Austrailia ( US$ 144 million)
4) norway ( US$ 122 million)
5)Denmark ( US$ 110 million)
I guess that means we're 10th or 11th to get the planes. if all goes well the 9 partner nations ( level 1,2 and 3) shld buy a total of about 2500 planes. Full rate production is planned to be about 143 airframes per year. if we are to get the planes and it really goes by the order mentioned above wouldnt we have to wait at least 20 years before we get the planes? lol, or did i make a mistake somewhere...
edit: btw anyone noes whether we contributed any funds to the programme? i dun think so right..
Of course it does not work like this haha!
Parallel production lines will be set up for export customers. If the RSAF does order the F-35, it should receive them from 2014-2017 onwards. No air force will be so patient as to wait 20 years for a new batch of warplanes.
