56th Singapore Armor Brigade (9th division)
During Jan 92 - Sep 92, it took over units such as 415 SAR,426 SAR, 431 SAR and 432 SAR. On 29 Dec 1993, 56 SAB logo was officially inaugurated by BG Sin Boon Wah. Apr 96 saw the 1st oceania Ex-Wallaby been conducted at Shaolwater Bay in Australia. The stand down of 415 SAR on Apr 92 and 426 SAR on Sep 2000 saw the forming of 2 new units : 465 SAR on Mar 94 and 433 SAR on May 97.
54th Singapore Armour Brigade (6th division)
As the penetrating force in the battlefield, 54 SAB is deemed as the spearhead of the Division and was the first NS Armoured Brigade to be formed under the Combined Arms Division concept. The insignia highlights a triangle with an arrow cast by an armoured vehicle track. The triangle represents the head of a spear, reflecting the use of armour as a spearhead element in the battlefield. Featuring the SAF Armour colours of red and yellow, 54 SAB identifies herself closely with her origins, and is proud to have matured into a fighting fight unit.
the 4th SAB.. eh... that one operate the strike freedom brigade.. deployed on the moon.

1) Most likely 3 Bn +1 Rcbn to form 1 bde with maybe 4(tnks) reserve. Training numbers has to be up to Bn level for atec. Not common to have more than (12) for normal training purposes...usually have more than enough in case of VOR. Therefore only enough for 4 Bn.Originally posted by tripwire:based on my assumption... if every SAR has 12 tanks...
1) 66 leopard tank can form 5 SAR with 6 tanks spare for training.
2) 350 AMX-13 SM1 can form 27 SAR with 26 tanks spare for trainning and attrition losses.
3) with a total of 32 SAR, and each SAB with 4 SAR, i suspect that SAF has as many as 7 SAB.
4) other then the known 4th, 8th, 56th and 54th, there are at least another 3 SAB that is not known (add in some support elements.. and viola.. we got an armor divison).
5) another 22 AMX-10P could easily formed another 2 SAR under another unknown SAB, directly under the command of 21st division.
6) that should give SAF a grand total of 8 SAB, not including the 2 tempest SAB.
the above are my assumption.. i am not from armor.
I am not surprised by "missing" numbers... i think SAF don't really have one number followed by another...Originally posted by gary1910:Have you guys ever wonder abt some missing numbers???
Active units is 40, 41, 42 , 46, what happen to 43, 44 and 45????
Is it the trend now to have the Black Panther on every unit belonging to the 9 Div?Originally posted by tripwire:

25 DIV according to Tim Huxley is more of a reserve division. He claims that there is a possible 32 DIV, of which 4 SAB is a part of.Originally posted by ah-soh:actually there are 2 more reservist Armoured Bridgade which are under the command of 25th division.
In reality , our CADs are considered as Inf Div , not even a Mech Inf Div in western world.Originally posted by sane_guy2:Wah lau.......you guys better watch out. Don't go too deep into the "real stuff".
66 Leo2 not enough to form one Division.
Notice that ours are combined arms division, so don't need so many tanks.
But in western world.....
Armoured Division means 200 MBTs, 100 IFVs.
Mech Inf Div means 100 MBTs, 200 IFVs.
No lah.. i think there is confusion there...Originally posted by gary1910:In reality , our CADs are considered as Inf Div , not even a Mech Inf Div in western world.
As for 25 Div, do you know that the at least the last 2 Chief Armour Officer is also the Cmder of that Div!!!
It is also the unit that kiap the most arrows between years 2001 and 2003.Originally posted by lionnoisy:[b]--Factsheet - 42 SAR - Army First Bionix Armed Battle Group.
actually 46 SAR was the one that got the most arrows then Cant let me *sway* buddies' efforts go down the drain with that kind of remarksOriginally posted by ditzy:It is also the unit that kiap the most arrows between years 2001 and 2003.
21st Div is supposedly a reserve div but in actual fact its a rapid deployment force. Are you aware that 7 SIB and its various Guards units (including 1 & 3 GDS and several NS Guards units) come under 21 Div? I scoff at the statement "don't look into them having too much stuff".Originally posted by CM06:21/25 Divs are reserve divs..... so dont look into them having too much stuff...They are like the reserve of us reservists....if they are activated it means most of the us are pretty much in refrigerator trucks..
I do...it's under the charge of CoG but no point blowing our own trumpet anyway. I rather somestuff remain under the status quoOriginally posted by sgf:21st Div is supposedly a reserve div but in actual fact its a rapid deployment force.
