Ancient history is not my area of speciality but I think it would be Alexander the Great. Btw, is true that he reached all the way down to Malaya? Coz I remember some legends about a king called Iskandar.

Got 2 Alexander (Iskander) is history. One is well known Macedonian, other is more early King, pre-Babylonian, Galgamesh era king. Macedonian Alexander went up to India. Very little known about the earlier one cause everything is now dust. That one mentioned in Quran as prophet and a great powerful King.

No Alexander only conqueror the northern india only. Alexander army - are make up of foot soldiers - Phalanx & shield bearers , cavalry - a very good balance force , but more on close quarter combat.
Genghis khan - however is more on light cavarly. which is more on arrows, they have 2 blows one for fast shooting and one for long distance. Usually they engage enemy in long distance shooting. The range of their arrows which is armour pericing is over 500m to 600m they can penterate the roman shields and armour easily. Usually each man will have 2-4 horse each so they can ride long distance. Also usually they will pretent to retreat and attack later, which their mobility enable them.
I view of this I guess Alexander army is the strongest if face on and in close combat fight. But in the end , I think if the Mongol refuse to get engage in close combat, but with range weapons and mobility, they should have the advantage over Alexander army. -

Its a close call between Alexander the Great and Genghis Khan. Both have their merits and both expanded their small plot of land into much of the known world. As an asian, I'd root for Genghis though.

The publicly acknowledged conqueor should no doubt be Genghis Khan, due to the territorial expanse from Korea to the east to the Eastern boundary of Europe to the west. They tried to attack Japan but failed terribly due to a typhoon. The Japanese called this the 'Divine Wind' or Kamikaze. They also attacked northern Vietnam. But the Mongols did not manage to hold this vast expanse of territory for that long and split up among his heirs. -
