ADF do not have Leo2s . They had Leo1s & have just taken delivery of refurbished M1A1s.

Makes no sense for the ADF to operate 2 series of contemporary MBTs, M1A1s and Leo2s. From what I know, the ADF's MBT is the Leo, not the Leo 2.

can we conclude those leo2's spotted in Australia are really ours that were bought long ago and only made public recently.

I have been to Australia many times & I did not see any Leo2s. Must be best kept secret ; or maybe Leo1s dressed up as Leo2s.
I am also sadly ignorant ; please provide pictures of Leo2s in ADF ; unless they are secret of course. So your saw these Leo2s with your own eyes right ? -
My credibility is no worry to me,as I am not the one that told myself about the Leo2's
For one,that photo with the dog is Air Force...not Army.So far,I have done a few searches(as I'm busy at work) and I have only been able to find photos of Army porsennel...and light vehicles such as Land Cruisers and Troop Carriers...no Tanks or Helicopters as of yet. -

BUT you have not been able to provide proof, so ...
i) So either you are wrong, inspite of your strident declarations above about local knowledge and contacts or ...
ii) Your friends are wrong. Given that some of them are officers, If I were you I'd think twice about claiming that they told you porkie pies. or ...
iii) Even worse, all of you are guilty of an OPSEC breach by divulging in open domain the existence of an ADF platform that to date is still not in the open domain.

So you wanna tell us that ADF websites have no pictures of their equipment? That there is some secrecy thing?
BTW the picture of the dog is to illustrate that the website I provided for you has pictures of everything in the ADF, from all Tri Services, from SASR all the way down to the cooks and technicians and yes ... dogs too.

Have a read around this forum sweetie, the standing rule is if you can't find open source proof, they don't exists.
If you insist some officers told you that and it should proof to be true, they'd be in very serious trouble. So if I were you, I'd just quietly drop the issue and let it lie that the ADF does not operate Leo 2s.

Australia is very under-armed for a country that size as it is.
So there is absolutely NO need for Australia to conceal the existence of any weapon system - especially something as ordinary as a tank. -
Give the Aussie a break.
They have been very generous to the SAF by allowing us to use their airspace and armor training grounds.
We only wish our other friends can be as generous - we really wud like more jungle areas for training. How about Central America ?
Anyway the Aussies have M1A1s and its good to have friends who are well armed. Who cares now if they have Leo2s or not. -

What difference does it make if they do use Leo2s or not?
It's a moot argument, given now they have the M1A1, the modern MBT capabilities of Australia is not really an issue.
Could you have mistaken some other prefix your "sources" put infront of the Leopard for the Leopard 2? Prehaps they were really talking about the Leopard 1 all along. It makes little sense for me anyway, that the Aussies should operate two different kinds of modern MBT... unless of course they were following Malaysian arms purchase methods.
BUT I would like to say that if it is really classified, you shouldn't be talking about it in the public domain. -
Its not that aussieland is under armed for its size. Its Singapore thats over-armed for its size. =D

Get off her back,the LEO2's were probably the ones that were here being evaluated over the years.
Singaporeans are the last ones that should jump down someones throat for this sort of stuff,have a trawl through this site and have a look at all the, Singapore "secretly" has this and Singapore is going to get that, crap.
