Cannot...because the US Army doesnt belong to the GOPOriginally posted by the Bear:can i call the GOP a terrorist organisation?
I agree with ur points. I guess the main difference btwn LTTE and the rest of the labelled terrorist organisations is that they do govern the land they have captured.Originally posted by fallin:This actually makes me wonder what exactly defines a terrorist? Actually, the LTTE doesnt really fit into the traditional image of a terrorist organization. To me, a terrorist organization are people that have to hide to carry their activites. A people that cannot openly stand up against government forces. But the LTTE seems to be doing a pretty good job against the Sri Lankans. When was the last time you actually saw a terrorist organization actually conquering and governing territory. To my limited extent of knowledge, I don't think I've ever seen it happening else where. It might not be entirely correct to classify the LTTE as a terrorist organisation. More like a secessionist movement.
It's not just the Brits who screwed up their former colonies.Originally posted by storm_freaky13:P.S. Everytime the UK leaves its former colonies, they always screw up. eg.
I'd like to disagree about your statements regarding the Brits. To me, the British are one of the more enlightened colonial powers. Just look at their former colonies,Canada, Australia, India. Canada and Australia are both rich first world nations. Both of which are fully democratic. Pretty successful by an y means don't you think. India, how many former colonies can yank up nukes and stand as a regional power? If there's one colonial power that screwed up it would definately be the French.Originally posted by storm_freaky13:Actually its most Colonial masters that do that.
So can we call them terrorists?
To my limited knowledge, the only Colonial master that didnt screw up was the US, but they are screwing up in every part of Middle East

But it's undeniable that in all their colonies, the British left a working administrative system of governance and a civil service that was educated enough to set on their own way in foreign policy.Originally posted by LazerLordz:But it's undeniable that in all their colonies, the British left a working administrative system of governance and a civil service that was educated enough to set on their own way in foreign policy.
Some African states destroyed theirs..the Asian ones leveraged on them.
The first attempt to divide the Hindus and Muslims along communal lines was conducted by the British by dividing Bengal province into east and west. Disregarding all opposition the British divided bengal, then they supported the Muslim league a fundamentalistic organistation. Later when its leaders asked for a seperate nation in the name of religion, it was supported by the British and before leaving India, India was divided into Republic of India and Islamic Republic of Pakistan which comprises of west and east Pakistan. Republic of India continued with the tradition and remained as a secular, democratic, pluralistic nation which today is popularly known as India. The newly created Pakistan choose to be Islamic as it is the main basis of forming Pakistan. Large scale of Hindus and Sikhs moved into India whereas muslims wishing to live in an Islamic nation moved into Pakistan. Communal violence erupted and many people lost their lives. Later in 1971, after genocide and a freedom struggle East Pakistan became an independent nation of Bangladesh for the Bangladeshis.Originally posted by fallin:My knowledge regarding the separation of India and Pakistan is limited, would somebody care to enlighten me on how it actually occured. I mean the process, people involved? Thank you.
