  Heh, ever heard of OJT? Basic training is what is described here.
  
  And when it comes to the ASIO, you cannot believe fully what is published. The same goes for most intelligence agencies.

  The length of training is about correct. After that, as LazerLords mentioned, its OJT. Or rather, you learn from the lau chiaus and apply.
  
  IOs are not really James Bonds. Definitely no HALO jumps and cocktail parties or super BMWs.
  
  Anyone here interested to become IOs? hahaha
