Actually we have been trained to use the 75mm APFSDS round from the SM1 to engage helicopters. I suppose we will only engage helicopters provided that they are within range and doesn't have much fire power (eg transport helicopters)Originally posted by equlus84:
1) Wad is the difference between an armoured car and a APC? Take for example Malaysia's AV-4 by deftech and the Rantis of Indonesia, can they qualify as APC? Their rear cabin area allows at least 5-6 mounted troops witha roof mounted 7.62mm GPMG in it, so can we say it is an APC or armoured car?
2) Wad is amphibious vehicle means? For example, if BX and M113 can swim across river with some floatation preparation, can they quantify as Amphibious?3)Recently on defence talk.com ,they were discussing abt anti aircraft weapons following a mechanised column. Some of the European forummers claim that eg. CV90, the auto-canon performs secondary roles as a AA gun, can this be possible? Aniway, both the germans and the Finns have adopted a twin barrelled AA gun mounted on tracks to supplement the AA roles, how effect are these guns in modern day battlefield considering now the range of eg, SPIKE ER, Hellfire are beyond their range of the AA?
I'm quite surprised, is the sabot effective against rotary-wing compared to a heat round?Originally posted by tankee1981:Actually we have been trained to use the 75mm APFSDS round from the SM1 to engage helicopters. it would jus punch a small hole in the aircraft instead of blowing up.Originally posted by chillycraps:I'm quite surprised, is the sabot effective against rotary-wing compared to a heat round?
Sensitive questions there bro...Originally posted by SpecOps87:Just curious, how much far can the AMX13, M113 and BX run on a single full-tank of fuel. The greatest obstacle I see in armored warfare is that lack of rounds for the main gun and fuel, it will bring the entire force to a screeching halt. Also, how far can AMX13 engage its target from?
Yes, very much more effective. The FS round fly in a straight line at high velocity, when hit the rotary-wing will have serious problem maintaining flight even if it is not being blown up.Originally posted by chillycraps:I'm quite surprised, is the sabot effective against rotary-wing compared to a heat round?
Ok ok...don't bother answering it yeah. I meant it as a statement of fuel and rounds being the limiter at which Armored Warfare progresses.Originally posted by tankee1981:Sensitive questions there bro...
