You will need to attend a Summary Trial by chaired by a JDO or SDO, minimum punishment for AWOL for Reservist if found guilty will be minimum 10 days DB, depending on the type of reservist activity you have AWOL on...
If your AWOL nature is of serious matter, you will be Court Marshalled, chaired by three SDOs... If found guilty, minimum punishment at that level will be 40 days DB... -

If you didn't and your unit has attempted to contact you and you actually AWOL, chances that a Warrant of Arrest has been issued against you...
In anyway should you have any difficulties, you should try to work out a solution with your unit CO like postponing your reservist training to a later date and yet allowing you to complete both your NS liability and work commitment...
Try working out a term as soon as possible with your unit CO on a possible solution... Don't delay anymore... -
i have been in contact with my NS OC about my deferment and yeserday just send an official email to NSSC.
before that i emailed officially to my PC and OC about my deferement.
was rejected for no reason. -

I also applied for reservist deferment due to studies, but they show stunt (reject), then I also show stunt, I took 5 days mc from my friend doctor to siam reservist. I think that is one of the few ways to siam reservist. Did you inform MINDEF on your overseas trip? Remember: an overseas notification doesn't serve as an exemption from service...
Also by acknowledging your callup notice, you have formally agreed to attend unless with a deferment as approved from NSPC or NSSC what they call it now...
By not turning up, you have therefore subjected yourself to committed a military offence...
Like what others would say and go take a MC or certified yourself unfit for duties, in order to have basis for the training, but also subject yourself to a makeup training which might also put yourself back in the same predicament again... -

Very likely DB. Unless you can work something out with your CO. Unless the rules have changed, new businesses are valid grounds for exemption.

ya ... reservist is not a very compulsory thingy ... the issue is about having to do it at later date ... we are not going to siam for the rest of 8 yrs ... juz this yr

If you are in SG and didn't show up for reservist, sure DB.
But being overses with a valid visa is a good first step for leniency. You will not escape being charged, just try to avoid DB.
You have to first plead guilty, but must prepare some kind of document to prove you are employed during the time that you were called up. And then say that your family members can't understand English, didn't open your mail or something...
I don't know your situation, but does this help?
I was charged for AWOL and fined when I first left the country to work overseas 10 years ago.
When I reported back to MINDEF to face charges, there was at first an interview. The officer was firm but very polite and I was given a chance to explain the reasons:
...when I first left the country, my battalion HQ clerk told me no need to apply for Exit permit from MINDEF, just write a letter to the Bn S1 or something, which I was dumb enough to believe him.
I also handed over my documents proving my employment status overseas.
After that, they had a conference amongst themselves.
Later, I was loudly marched in and formally charged and fined SGD400 after pleading guilty to AWOL and not contesting the charge. If you contest the charge and the punishment (fine), you can go for higher court martial. If you lose that one, MP will "love you long time" in DB.
I believe there are many reasons I was not thrown into DB:
* Firstly, I made contact with my unit and MINDEF while still overseas to explain that I screwed up by not applying for Exit Permit etc.
* They gave me a date to report for charges and I showed up on time - very important.
* I had the necessary documents to prove my story and they believed it.
* My passport stamps proved I was away all the while even before they sent out the ICT call-up letter.
* Excellent service record throughout also helped. If you had ever been in trouble with army law, then bad news for you.
Oh, when you report, dress smartly in No 4, kiwi your boots and remember to address NCO's by their rank and officers as "sir".

They do not need to give you any reason for rejecting your application. Furthermore, you are writing to them now after everything has happened, not before.
Just bear in mind like I said that you will definitely face being charged and found guilty. Just make sure you plead guilty and find ways of lessening the punishment. -
the reason i post here is also to know if i travel to Hk will i be sent back to Singapore?
