Anyone watched speedweek on discovery yesterday night?
They did a little feature on RSAF pilots during the excercise.
Its pretty cool to see RSAF in tandem with the canadians, americans, french and germans among others..
Some facts from the show, While flying an escort mission with the germans, the rsaf got 8 kills and zero losses, germans no kills and zero losses..
Oh, and they also show an american pilot got "killed" 3 times by te ADATS during debrief.. can see his face.. damn disappointed.. -

Tonight got repeat telecast I think. I caught it in school's SCV corner. Haha, score 1 for the RSAF!!! 8kills, 2 by that CPT. Lin or something. Sure goes to say alot bout our Viper drivers.

RSAF was playing BLUE AIR Sweep during that mission.. Superior weapons (Amraam) vs RED AIR (probrably AA10). Of course you have to rack up the kills.
This is not to discredit the RSAF but you have to take the exercise results into context.
BLUE AIR has to win, otherwise something is really wrong.
The germans/ french were doing strike roles, so their main priority wasn't to kill enemy aircraft, but to have zero loss is good enough and bombs on target. -

Went there once for it.... loved the place its actually a NATO flight training School for pilots so every batch of pilots the top 3 would get to go or something like that...
Maple flag is a multi national exercise have US, CAD, germans, french SG, Japan Italy U.K is I'm not mistaken...
but all simulation not really thing lol -
NFTC is located in Cold Lake AFB where Maple Flag is conducted. They don't call it Cold Lake for nothing, bigger than Sg and it freezes over in the -40 winter.
