Hi LazerLordz,Originally posted by LazerLordz:The US DOD's DVIC may have some pictures. Or the ADF's media gallery database.
hey no problem.Originally posted by Black Aces:Hi LazerLordz,
Thanks for the info. I have searched through the ADF gallery and found most of the pics for PitchBlack Exercises.... but mostly the pics are are on the ground or taken of RSAF planes & RTAF or RAAF planes on the ground.
But I found the pic that I had stated earlier:
Precisely! I was at the RSAF Open House this year and they had set up this mini wall pasting pics of RSAF assets contributions overseas...from SPs & Chinooks in Acheh to Chinooks during the Katrina rescue in the US.Originally posted by LazerLordz:....I was wondering if there would be a picture of our KC-135s refueling coalition warplanes in Iraq..
You hit the nail on the head. After 41 years of independence, our chaps still don't know how to profile themselves well in the foreign media in a way that projects the SAF's image professionally.Originally posted by Black Aces:But aren't there any pics of RSAF AAR refuelling of US or other allied air assets there? I had the Osprey Book on 'USN F-14 units in OIF' and there are pics of RAF Victor & Tridents refuelling USN jets....but where are the elusive RSAF AAR pics? or how about other pics outside of that theatre?
Anyone?
Yah boy....even some of their media (and even the ADF website!) even termed the 'R' in 'RSAF as 'Royal'! *FAINT*Originally posted by ChineseJunk:You hit the nail on the head. Speaking of tsunami, if you read Time, Newsweek or the recent National Geographic tsunami special, it would almost seem that the SAF was never there. Go figure.
OH yea nothing on the RSAF....i read them.No pictures, not even a mention.Originally posted by ChineseJunk:You hit the nail on the head. maybe it's time for the RSAF to come up with a publicity section in their orbatOriginally posted by |-|05|:OH yea nothing on the RSAF....i read them.No pictures, not even a mention.
The RSAF needs a Public Affairs Office.Originally posted by ChineseJunk:You hit the nail on the head. After 41 years of independence, our chaps still don't know how to profile themselves well in the foreign media in a way that projects the SAF's image professionally.

IMHO, we aim to be low profile, if we are not featured in those news articles, then the team in PA dept is doing an excellent job.Originally posted by ChineseJunk:You hit the nail on the head. That's not the point.Originally posted by touchstone_2000:IMHO, we aim to be low profile, if we are not featured in those news articles, then the team in PA dept is doing an excellent job.
Why low profile? Reasons too many to post. Read the posts in this forum, you will know why. I will summarize in 1 sentence.
Walk softly and carry a big stick.
Excuse me, such scenarios normally apply if you're a big country (eg like the US), where you don't have to flaunt your military prowess (eg by sending a carrier CSG to the near waters) to a country that you want to signal your displeasure but just through the media or by diplomatic channels...b'cos the other guy know if they ignore such 'soft warnings', the US military might sail up overnight to his shores. And how the other know that? B'COS OF THE EXPOSURE OF THE US MILITARY PROWESS IN THE MEDIA!Originally posted by touchstone_2000:IMHO, we aim to be low profile, if we are not featured in those news articles, then the team in PA dept is doing an excellent job.[/quote]
PA is doing an excellent job? har? Are they doing anything in the 1st place? Why low profile? Reasons too many to post. Read the posts in this forum, you will know why...Oh please....we are not requesting them to release sensitive or classified pics of RSAF Tigers carrying AMRAAMS or Vipers carrying non-Western weapons (if any!) or even HUD shots shots of a MiG-29, Su-30 or even a F/A-18 in the cross-hairs of a RSAF Viper HUD or a bomb-laden Viper!
What so sensitive of releasing pics of RSAF planes in formation with a friendly jet? Eg, RSAF Viper with FAF Mirage 2000 (during deployment to France), Viper/F-5/E-2 formation with RAAF Hornets, USAF during Ex Pitchblack, Viper with IAF Flankers.
Given the publicity conscious of MINDEF, doesn't the release of such harmless pics (unless the pics show RSAF jets carrying classified weapons) goes to show the 'excellent ties that the RSAF has with that foreign AF'?
It is the same effect that also sents through the release of pics of PM Lee shaking hands with PM Abdullah, US Sec-State Condolezza Rice shaking hands with FM George Yeo? President Nathan shakinh hands with King Abdullah....etc

Here is something for everyone.Originally posted by |-|05|:More publicity of this soft power kind would do well to bring up the status to the local population as well as act as a recruitment tool.
I dont see why they shouldnt write articles about it and stuff. Also helps to enhance the SAF's reputation in the world's eyes.Heck most dont even know our chinhooks were helping out in the USA in the wake of katrina(another non mention in the National geographic article)
no he's using sarcasm to scold his colleaguesOriginally posted by Shotgun:Wait... was that journalist complaining that only the 4 pilots were helping in the operations?
