I think the original post was not read in the intended light.
How can people kill some 10-15% of their own countrymen women and children. Systematically, mechanically and brutally?
Was it brain washing, fear of being killed yourself involing the kill or be killed primal presevation instinct?
Or was it more blood lust and stoopidity at play?
History repeating itself? find it hard to draw similar environments of fear controlling whole people, maybe the zulu under sharkar zulu, Hilter and the serbs under that funny man. -
It's happening right now in the sectarian violence throughout Iraq. The world would be a much more peaceful place if countries are governed by women... or so my wife says.

Does Qin Shi Huang ring a bell? He ordered that all educated men be buried alive so that there will not be any intellectuals left to question his harsh rule. It is in some what similar to the intentions of Communist Pol Pot who mainly targeted those who are educated.
