Rafale? I think thats a "No-no." Besides France, who else operates the Rafales? I can't think of any off hand. With fewer operators, an indirect end result would be costly and slow developments and upgrades. That is a situation would not benefit us at all.Originally posted by touchstone_2000:I agree!! I would like to point out it should be Rafale or Typhoon.
Strange that Typhoon would be highly rated for BVR missions, considering that Meteor is not even IOC
I suppose our potential enemy would be happily drinking teh tarik relac one corner, and the word "scramble" never existed in their dictionaryOriginally posted by storywolf:For those who like eurofighter & rafale, face the fact the ideal of plane able to outturn taking down another plane in dog-fight seem glorious. But they must not forget F-15 can do it also. But modern warfare already changing, with the new helmet sights and missiles which the plane manubility is not that important, they became more of missile platform carrier. Nowaday, you are more interest in taking out those planes before they even airborne, so F-15 is the better plane to get the job done.
That would of course, be an ideal scenario. =DOriginally posted by chillycraps:I suppose our potential enemy would be happily drinking teh tarik relac one corner, and the word "scramble" never existed in their dictionary
LGB would do the AAM's job.

Typhoon airframe design is circa late 80's? Making it stealthy is going to be an interesting exercise.Originally posted by Shotgun:Rafale? I think thats a "No-no." The Typhoons are... okayyyyy... Since there are at least 3 NATO members operating it now. Saudi Arabia, Italy and Austria are soon to be operators of the Typhoon as well. In terms of potential and pace of development, I would think that the Typhoons would surpass the French Rafales.
I think if we were to look for an air to air fighter, the Typhoon would stand a good chance. The best A2A fighter is too expensive, its water-down cousin is over-priced and under-loaded as well... I think the 3rd best option would be Typhoons. Lower cost, and good on capabilities.
Who then?Originally posted by LazerLordz:I feel this entire argument is based on the idea that northland is our main threat.
They are not anymore.

Northland still approves of any politician that bashes their Chinese and Singapore (From their perspective, Chinese). Abdullah is an anomally. But he is already under significant threat. There is no question that Northland is still unstable and poses a threat.Originally posted by papabear20046:Who then?
what LL meant was ... they are no longer our only threat ...Originally posted by kenneth_loh:Northland still approves of any politician that bashes their Chinese and Singapore (From their perspective, Chinese). For them, it is a need to bash Singapore to maintain domestic cohesion amongst the party alliance.Originally posted by kenneth_loh:Northland still approves of any politician that bashes their Chinese and Singapore (From their perspective, Chinese). just curious, do we consider our Fokker-50 with Harpoon as combat plane as well?Originally posted by moca:F-15 definitely sounds like a politically-motivated choice.
First of all, we are flying ONLY US combat planes so weapon systems, techinical and logistics support etc all easier if we get another US combat aircraft.
So it them n......? Someone beyond........Northeast?Originally posted by Fatum:what LL meant was ... they are no longer our only threat ...

If I understand the english here, LL said they are not our threat anymore, not "no longer our ONLY threat."Originally posted by LazerLordz:I feel this entire argument is based on the idea that northland is our main threat.

the northern dragon is certainly one of them ... I used to see them as the new "rising sun" ... but then again, no one in the right mind would want to go up against them, no ? ... certainly not us .... but we also have a potential "eagle" on the loose ... somewhere else ....Originally posted by sgdiehard:If I understand the english here, LL said they are not our threat anymore, not "no longer our ONLY threat."
If northland is no longer our only threat, that means we are facing more threat now than before. We must have diamonds kept somewhere.
