Scene from "the Rock" (1999)
SEALs secure the area in the shower room. Mason, Goodspeed and Lt. Shepherd stay below. Suddenly, the motion sensor flashes and all the Marines pop out and hold the SEAL`s at gunpoint.
Hummel: Drop your weapons!
Anderson: Hold your fire! Stand Fast!
Hummel: This is General Hummel, drop your weapons.
Dillenger: We`re dead!!
Anderson: Anderson here General, Commander, Team Leader.
Hummel: Commander Anderson, if you have any concern for the lives of your
men then you will order them to safety their weapons and place them on the deck.
Anderson: Sir, we know why you're out here. God knows I agree with you. But like you I made an oath to defend the country against all enemies, foreign sir, and domestic. We have spilt the same blood in the same mud. You know god damn well I can`t give that order.
Hummel: Your unit is is covered from an elevated position.
Anderson: Marines under the command of the General. You are under oath as United States Marines, have you forgotten that? We all have shipmates we remember, and some of them were pissed on and shitted on by the pentagon. But that dosen`t give you the right to mutiny!
Hummel: You call them what you want. But you`re down there, we`re up here. You walked into the wrong god damn room commander!
Shouting and confusion ensues.
Frye: Let`s waste these fuckers!
Frye pushes some rocks down and as the SEALs are nervous, they open fire in reaction to the noise of the rocks.
Hummel: Cease fire!!!!
No-one listens to Hummel, and all the SEAL`s die. In the tunnels below -
Goodspeed: No, don`t go. Don`t go!
Lt.Shepherd: Shit! God Damn! Let go of me. Let go of me!!!
Shepherd is killed also and falls back down to Mason and Goodspeed.
WHAT WOULD YOU HAVE DONE?
he thought that he had the area secured.Originally posted by SpecOps87:Tough nut to crack. But he should have hid half the assault force below to limit losses.
actually, i feel that, at that point of time, there is already no chance for the SEALs.Originally posted by winning 11:there is always a smoke bomb or some flash bangs to mininise the losses.
Either way they are goat-f*ckedOriginally posted by Shotgun:Put down our weapons and negotiate. It was a checkmate situation. You can't carry out the mission if u're dead. Better to drop the weapon and attempt to negotiate.
Originally posted by baer:As the force commander, likely I will not surrender. But if there was a way out, I will let the troops under my command surrender if they want to. Something like what the Texans in the Alamo did. It is already a highly disadvantaged situation . Whole operation is already compromised, to risk all the lives in the team will be foolish. I will let whoever wants to surrender , surrender. Personally, I will fight on because of reputation.
sorry actually two different situations:
If you were already in the shower room and your surrender was demanded, (am still looking for actual exchange) inour example ("shouting and confusion ensures")
AND
as the last man knowing your buddies are in a shooting situation, would you rush into the room? (in our script - Lt Shepherd] ??
No need to potinficate on why/how you got there; or how unlikely the given situation is, your already there, or they say "Sh*t happens"

haha..idea eh.Originally posted by glock:How to react in this situation depends what kind of reputaion enemy has.
If enemy is Western , surrender - more than 50 % chance you end up prisoner and be freed in 1 weeks time.
If Taliban or similar - full auto and save last grenade for yourself.
WHAT WOULD YOU HAVE DONE?will never know till it happen.
The exchange which I found was:Originally posted by specfore:As the force commander, likely I will not surrender.
As regards the last man rushing in.. He had one course of action which was the most responsible and that was to escape and report the intel.
