I've got 688i and fleet commandOriginally posted by Shotgun:Oh, this is another one worth looking at. Its a collection of some of the oldies.
Saw it at Software discount store @ Sim Lim.
Its a compilation pack of Janes 688i, Fleet Command, and Akula, 688i and Seawolf.
$59.90. Quite outrageously expensive, but then again, u probably can't find Fleet command anywhere else liao.
My Signature came from book 6th of The Wheel Of Time by Robert Jordan.Originally posted by fkh:From your signature, have you played Dawn of War?
Dawn of war, consisted of Eldars, Chaos , and Orcs, and Space Marines?
You will watch them engaged in close arm battle ,where they battle with swords, guns, rockets and even spells..
I also love Chaos, especially Bloodthirster (Great winged Demon)

LOL ok...quite different fomr 688I though.I mean 688i was good and bloody realistic but my harpoons never got shot down though they did crap damage.Originally posted by Shotgun:Thats actually SubCommand:Akula, Seawolf n 688i.
Its like Janes 688i in most aspects except that u can command a choice of these 3 submarines. There is only 1 campaign, and the 3 submarines recieve a variation of these missions. For example, the first mission as the AkulaII, u have to egress from port undetected, while in the Seawolf or 688i, your objective is to locate the AkulaII leaving port, and track it to deeper waters before egressing to your release point.
The campaign is a modernised cold war scenario. As a game, and a simulation I rank it pretty highly in terms of playability. However, u need to know a few submarine warfare tactics or some of the missions would be a bit too challenging. But of course, as a game, there is always "broken" aspect. You can launch any weapon u like, even if its a drastic overkill.
Personally, its quite easy to get the hang of the game as long as you are patient and don't shoot off torps easily. I usually like to scout out SAGs carefully, fix everyone of their positions before launching ALL 8 tubes at them. Followed by a whole 10 minute of running perpendicular at flank speed when they detect my torpedoes coming at them. If you ever try the game, just remember, FLANK speed and DECOYs are your FRIENDS. It helps you shoot ppl and not get shot! =D
ANTI-SHIP Missiles ARE NOT YOUR FRIENDS. Cos they give away ur position AND are usually ALWAYS shot down. Hence I never carry and TASM or Harpoons. Only Mk48s, UUVs and TLAMs.
