  Janes Recognition is all time favourite,
  The One that Got Away is nice too, a different perspective of Bravo Two Zero.

  I haven't read Hunt for Red October but I feel that Red Storm Rising was a really too technical for the average reader, or maybe its just my military knowledge thats lacking. Anyway personally,my favs are Turtledove's Timeline 191 series. Not sure if that can count as military books but they do depict an alternate WWI/II.
