An NTU research team has developed a nanophotonic technology which can potentially increase data transmission speeds by up to 1000 times. This breakthrough nanophotonic technology can possibly revolutionise the design of devices such as computers, mobile phones, personal digital assistants and wireless network adapters, in the information and communications technology industry. Led by Associate Professor Liu Ai Qun from NTU's School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, the research team hopes to conduct further research in this field to build a "nanophotonic circuit" made up entirely of optical components instead of electrical components. The NTU research team is also looking for interested industry partners to commercialise the breakthrough technology.
