Singapore Army Introduces Bionix II Infantry Fighting Vehicl

i have a few questions.
1) the bionix assigned to the armoured brigade/regiment of the division right?
2) from previous posts, it seems that there are mechanized infantry in the SAF who use the bionix as their transport. are the mechanized infantry assigned to the armoured brigade or drawn from the infantry brigades? -
The guys who ride in the Bionix or M113 are known as Armor infantry, (AI). They are part of the armor formation, and not drawn from the infantry formation. After basic training, the soldiers assigned to AI would recieve specialised training from their respective Armor units.

I doubt our brigade manpower strength is equivalent to that of the US Army or Marines. We do have a smaller combat section.

Compared to the 25 mm cannon on the original Bionix, the Bionix II is fitted with a 30 mm cannon which delivers an estimated 50% increase in penetration capability.

BIONIX I is the product of assessing and rejecting so many famous
IFV!!It took 7 years to develope.
----Speech by Lieutenant-General Bey Soo Khiang, Chief of Defence Force, at the IFV Roll-Out Ceremony at Singapore Technologies Automotive Ltd, Posted: 06 Sep 1997.
The IFVs evaluated included the American Bradley, the Warrior of UK, Marder and AV 90 of Germany and CV 90 of Sweden. All these platforms are advanced and incorporate state of the art technology.
However, none could meet our(SAF)specific requirements. Most of these IFVs were designed to operate in less restrictive terrain conditions such as that in Europe. They were generally too large and too heavy.
On the other hand, the smaller platforms were too lightly armoured to provide sufficient protection in the modern battlefield. This motivated the decision to develop the IFV locally.

Actually the CV90 seems overall to be the best of the lot if one buys off the shelf. Its low ground pressure is also very impressive as it was designed for use in snow.

Any chance our existing BX1 being upgraded to BX2? Personally i think it is unlikely though.

I suspect not, probably a re-designed and "bigger" turret, to accomodate the larger rounds....
If it is a total different turret, unlikely to upgrade soon.... the turret is very expensive...
Also the BX is so new... what awaste to spend $$ on the upgrade.
