I agree that the Ultra are fast growing obsolete, they should be decommissioned and kept in storage for the Reservists when the BXII gradually takes over its place. The Bronco did very well in terms of speed, versatility, AI comfort and maybe even better armour than the M113.However, i have doubts that the Infantry carrier version of Bronco is a good replacement as it lacks firepower. Is it possible to add a RWS on the Bronco?

I think LianHeZaBao got their info wrong, it should be Bronco Mortar Track Carrier will replace the current M113 based SP 120mm mortar carrier.
Read David Boey report in the today ST Pg H6 for the ans.
2ndly, the M113 and Bronco are 2 different type of vehicle for different purposes.
The BX will eventually replace the M113 , not Bronco. -

I was thinking the Mortar varaint of the Bronco, why dun they make a better design for the mortar carriage itself. I mean it looks like the old typical 120mm mortar for M113. U see, if they make a more roofed and thicker armoured protection for the carriage, it should be better. Just like the AMOS mortar system mounted on the Finnish patria 8x8. The bomb is fed into the tube from the bottom not like the conventional way, thus the crew is very much protected, not like the Bronco. Another thing is why the SRAMS system, why is the bomb placed on the mehcanical slot and then raised to be fed into the tube? I mean wad advantage is there comparing the mechanical arm and the lifting by human?
The SRAMS has lots of advantages for the infantry and guards. Bcos the mortar has very low recoil thus it can be fitted on top of those 4x4 -
the mortar is loaded from the bottom. no need to drop from the top. quite cool.
bx 2 got no aircon. got 1 fan in driver compartment, 1 on gunner side in turret and 2 near the ramp. if only got aircon man... shiok. -

They said 4x MTTC replaced 6x M113 SP Mortar.
Does that mean that the number of "tubes" reduced from 6 to 4? -

Let's do the maths.
Bronco MTC firing rate is 10rds/min
M113 SP MC firing rate is 6rds/min
So 4 Bronco MTC batt ~ 40rds/min,
6 M113 SP MC batt ~ 36rds/min.
Manpower reduction is also significant,4 Bronco MTC batt needs 4x4=16 gunners,
whereas M113 SP MC batt needs 6x6 = 36 gunners, 55% reduction!!!
And you include the survey team and that of the command vehicle for the M113 SP MC batt that is no more needed, the number is even higher!!!!
I also believe that the towed 120mm mortar batt for the infantry units will also be replaced by the SRAMS on LSV in the future becos of manpower reduction, lesser preparation and higher rate of fire. -

the BX don't have 360 degree periscope right? At least they should include a CITV like the M2 Bradley. -

4 SRAMS replace 6 120mm mortar? I think it is a msiquote. If u read carefully, the words in Chinese just meant up to now, they managed to put 4 units worth of MTC into the battalion, they din say mortar now is 4 tubes instead of 6 rite?

Actually i have heard from my superiors back when i am still in NSF that the Bronco will eventually replace the tonners for troop carrying purposes in combat zones. The advantages are obvious. So when Manager mentioned that Bronco will replace the M113, i thought it may have some connections to this.

But the armoured Bronco troop carriier variamt is not to replace BX and Ultra IFVs in the armoured units but to support our infantry units.
I once posted a few years ago abt this here.
This is what I have said then:
Our armoured units will be the mechanised force with BX/Ultras IFV.
Our infantry units with Bronco Armoured troop carriier will be the " motorised" force.
