Correction. Its reported in today ZaoBao.Originally posted by tankee1981:Manager433 you have the link to this? Its interesting.
I agree that the Ultra are fast growing obsolete, they should be decommissioned and kept in storage for the Reservists when the BXII gradually takes over its place. The Bronco did very well in terms of speed, versatility, AI comfort and maybe even better armour than the M113.However, i have doubts that the Infantry carrier version of Bronco is a good replacement as it lacks firepower. Is it possible to add a RWS on the Bronco?
actually is still dropped from the top, just that now the gun will bring it to the top of the muzzle, that's the difference from conventional mortar.Originally posted by ken_nerve:the mortar is loaded from the bottom. no need to drop from the top. quite cool.
bx 2 got no aircon. got 1 fan in driver compartment, 1 on gunner side in turret and 2 near the ramp. if only got aircon man... shiok.

not at allOriginally posted by Manager433:One question: Is the Bx fully aircon?
yes?i'm the first batch trained in itSo.... was the system any good Can you even talk (write) about it the last thing that i need is to drink coffee with ISD people

Yes, but there is no corresponding reduction of firepower and more efficient.Originally posted by spencer99:They said 4x MTTC replaced 6x M113 SP Mortar.
Does that mean that the number of "tubes" reduced from 6 to 4?
Hmmm..... but the area of impact would be smaller cause firing only from 4 tubes, so smoke screen may be smaller than before.Originally posted by gary1910:Yes, but there is no corresponding reduction of firepower and more efficient.
Let's do the maths.
Bronco MTC firing rate is 10rds/min
M113 SP MC firing rate is 6rds/min
So 4 Bronco MTC batt ~ 40rds/min,
6 M113 SP MC batt ~ 36rds/min.
Manpower reduction is also significant,4 Bronco MTC batt needs 4x4=16 gunners,
whereas M113 SP MC batt needs 6x6 = 36 gunners, 55% reduction!!!
And you include the survey team and that of the command vehicle for the M113 SP MC batt that is no more needed, the number is even higher!!!!
I also believe that the towed 120mm mortar batt for the infantry units will also be replaced by the SRAMS on LSV in the future becos of manpower reduction, lesser preparation and higher rate of fire.
reminds me of infantry crossfire/crosslane. At least infantry bump into each other then just fall down, armour vehicle bump into each other, oopz.Originally posted by moca:Just saw the clip.
Wah, very "hard sell" for STK. Some of the soldiers including Teo Chee Hean is wearing a black baseball cap that has the big logo BIONIX2 in front.
The only thing lacking is a telephone number flashing on the screen and a voice over saying "order yours now and the first one hundred callers will also get a ....etc etc"
In the last part of the clip, a line of Bionix is charging with guns firing. One vehicle was going faster than everyone else and seemed to me to have broke formation and cut diagonally into the path of the other Bionix that are still firing their guns!
It looked to me like a situation where it will likely to be hit by friendly fire from behind by the other Bionix he was overtaking, if they were firing live rounds.
Goes to show you should still look at where you are driving instead of a computer screen. So much for being "more aware of the battlefield".
Interesting pt, perhaps add more smoke grenade for thr AFVs to solve the problem.Originally posted by wisefool83:Hmmm..... but the area of impact would be smaller cause firing only from 4 tubes, so smoke screen may be smaller than before.
When the VC decides to close his side of the hatch, we'll turn on the air con.Originally posted by Manager433:One question: Is the Bx fully aircon?
that's what the army eventually wants, but it's kind of expensive. so it'll prolly take some time to properly change all to that variant AND train the crewsOriginally posted by spencer99:Will existing BXs be upgraded to BXIIs?
it's good, when it's workingOriginally posted by hloc:So.... was the system any good Can you even talk (write) about it the last thing that i need is to drink coffee with ISD people
maybe u'll understand when u use the BMS system. all i can say is that it isn't used when vehicles are close to each other. no pointOriginally posted by moca:In the last part of the clip, a line of Bionix is charging with guns firing. erm it's true that only 4 MTCs will replace the 6motars in the battOriginally posted by equlus84:4 SRAMS replace 6 120mm mortar? I think it is a msiquote. If u read carefully, the words in Chinese just meant up to now, they managed to put 4 units worth of MTC into the battalion, they din say mortar now is 4 tubes instead of 6 rite?
Hahaha...... all the same good only when working But if not workingOriginally posted by beavan:it's good, when it's working
can't say much lah
That is given, do we need 600 Bronco(latest estimates) + 300 BV206 for logistics support role????Originally posted by tankee1981:Actually i have heard from my superiors back when i am still in NSF that the Bronco will eventually replace the tonners for troop carrying purposes in combat zones. The advantages are obvious. So when Manager mentioned that Bronco will replace the M113, i thought it may have some connections to this.
