Black Hawk Down - realistic and closer to what real combat is like. However, my recommendation is to read the book - its better than the movie.
Saving Private Ryan is also great ware movie.
Slyvester Stallone movies are true Hollywood nonsense as war movies
BÃ¥seline
Apocalypse Now (Friggin mental, strange and haunting) Full Metal Jacket (Another mental War-based film) Tora! Tora! Tora! (Old skool but I like) Saving Private Ryan (Excellent cinematography)

For me... not in any order , with reasons ....
Apocalypse Now (I was really impressed with the airmobile cavalry (heli-borne ops) when I saw this film during my teens and guess what... I had my chance !)
Platoon ( Saw this the year after my ORD.... I thought it was fairly accurate in its protrayal of platoon operations)
Band of Brothers ( cool and historically very accurate... read the book before the TV series)
Zulu ( impressed with the fire discipline of the British troops... this was what won the day.... the disciplined rifle volleys and the determined logistics supply of ammo... great !)

My contribution
Red Dawn - for the human emotion, starring Patrick Swayze. The part where they sing the Star Speckled banner before the firing squad, really bring tears The Longest Day
popmynutsy
saving private ryan. and another one is the thin red line i think. about a group of us soldier raping a gal. then in the end the guy tell on them. that 1 damn nice show,
