Its definitely a heavy piece of weapon as compared to the old Armbrust. And Armbrust is disposable too as one can throw it away after single use! While you have to lug the 84mm around everywhere and that is definitely a killer.Originally posted by spartan6:E 84mm RCL is classed as a medium anti-tank wpn not light
Huh? Would have thot u would have known the answer.Originally posted by SpecOps87:Ok,noted
Curious, what are the abilities of a LAW against enemy armour?
anything above 200m is an accuracy problem. Rather than its capability to defeat armor.Originally posted by insouciant:Huh? Would have thot u would have known the answer.
LAWs are fine if fired from close range to armour. Anything beyond 200m, I wouldn't bother if it is heavy tanks.
Other than a tank killer?Originally posted by tankee1981:Its definitely a heavy piece of weapon as compared to the old Armbrust. And Armbrust is disposable too as one can throw it away after single use! While you have to lug the 84mm around everywhere and that is definitely a killer.
Cuz LAW stands for Light Anti-tank Weapon. And I was wondering, the Light, refers to what classes of tanks?Originally posted by insouciant:Huh? Would have thot u would have known the answer.

those with lesser armour compared to other tanks. basically around 25 to 35 tons in weightOriginally posted by SpecOps87:Cuz LAW stands for Light Anti-tank Weapon. And I was wondering, the Light, refers to what classes of tanks?
comfirm down.the armour of the tank is like 20 or 30 mm. penetration power of the matador is like 10 times that.Originally posted by SpecOps87:Just curious...if we take the AMX13 w/o any ERA, and launch a Matardor or Armbrust at is..will it be taken down? Lets assume a frontal strike.
Ouch...I didn't know that the AMX-13's armour is that thin.Boy...sure wish I ain't a tankee. What about the BX and M113s?Originally posted by beavan:comfirm down.the armour of the tank is like 20 or 30 mm. penetration power of the matador is like 10 times that.
Confirm can penetrate SM1's armour especially without any further armour add-ons and ERA.Originally posted by SpecOps87:Just curious...if we take the AMX13 w/o any ERA, and launch a Matardor or Armbrust at is..will it be taken down? Lets assume a frontal strike.
armbrust maybe BX can take, but the matador will eat it alive for lunch.Originally posted by tankee1981:Confirm can penetrate SM1's armour especially without any further armour add-ons and ERA.
As for M113 and BX i am not sure but M113 shouldn't be a problem, as for the BX since the armour is thicker and is able to attach additional armour easily therefore should be able to withstand the Armbrust HEAT round.
The "Light" stands more for the weight of the weopon, not so much the type of target it should engage. Hence the 84 is classified as a Medium Anti-Tank Weopon.Originally posted by SpecOps87:Cuz LAW stands for Light Anti-tank Weapon. And I was wondering, the Light, refers to what classes of tanks?
The after armor effects of the HEAT round on thin tends to be rather horrific when compared to a Sabot. Basically, the HEAT round would have more than enuff "stream" to penetrate the armor, leaving a large amount of it to spew into the internals of the tank, killing the crew.Originally posted by moca:Over at the Philippines forum one chap described an incident where one RPG round killed all crew and infantrymen in an M113.
Aluminium coffin, the M113.
It is so bad the IDF tried everything they could to upgrade its armour. Eventually they also resorted to converting old MBTs into IFV and APC.
Its not just that. The explosion happens in a way that it forms a jet stream of metal traveling at the speed of 7- 14KM / second, which basically blasts its way thru a piece of armor.Originally posted by equlus84:Actually, I think that our BX can tahan a rpg attack. Bcos from wad I read from some other forums, our BX has composite armour which is ceramic based. We all noe that ceramics composites has properties of being heat retardant, thus the HEAT working on the theory of high temperature concentration at a small point, is not going to threaten the BX that much.
BTW, does the BX2 have thermal imagers installed on them?
