PLA: what's the attachment on QBZ rifle.

pump oil into yr weapon and then fire blanks in auto mode , sure to get alot of smoke. But never notice that it is black
Did it to SAW and M16.
Never dare to try on MG.....

maybe its just the smoke left behind after firing and they put all the pictures together and it became one big mass.

Can be a grenade-firing attachment. Instead of the under-barrel type like the M203, some rifles use this type.

For what ends would Xinhua photoshop this pic?
This is the first time I've seen the QBZ with a muzzle like this. From his stance it looked like he was firing a grenade.
But since all 3 weapons have this attachment, and there don't seem to be any aiming device for launching grenade, I am not sure that it is a grenade attachment. -

1) end up with a 1.3m smoke trail?
2) end up with a thicker smoke at the end of the trail? Does the bullet have a 2nd stage gunpowder reserve? -

I heard the type 95 is a chiong version of the French FAMAS. But I also heard the rifle is encountering some problems, anibody noe wad is it?

What i hear is that it was initially reserved for crack troops.
But whatever the story is, there is little talk about it as Chinese is still very secretive about their development. -

The QBZ is on general issue to all troops already - it's been more than 10 years. They are not secretive about it and they show off and brag about the QBZ all the time.
All ordinary PLA troops use the QBZ.
Only the paramilitary police retain the older AK-style rifles.
They openly showcase also the new QBZ derived SMGs including one with a helical magazine.
You think they are secretive cos you don't bother to search out the thousands of Chinese websites with PLA pics. You expect info about the Chinese PLA to be fed to you in English. -

I am quite surprised by the grenade. It is the PRC type 77-1 type of stick grenade. Wad is shown in the wooden handle variants while there are plastic handle variants. But I am not convinced that the grenade can be fired from the muzzle style firing. Bcos the mechanism involved is different. The type 77-1 has a rubber cap at the bottom. When removed, it will review a cord with a ring attached. By pulling the cord, the grenade is armed. I have seen newer PRC grenade that are the egg shaped one, thus should'nt the typ77-1 be made obsolete?
Btw, I dun think all units of PRc has changed to the type95, bcos I have seen some pics of their troopers from the more undeveloped regions still carrying the typ81 rifle.
It is just like the SAF, I doubt all the units have changed to using the SAR-21 rifle, the reservist and the PDF are still using M-16
