  Abit out of their way ain't it... considering NATO stands for NORTH ATLANTIC Treaty Organisation...

  NATO is in fact acting out of the actual area of concern that they formed for. They had therefore become the private enterprise for the US... more like USTO
  
  The US had handle over control of afghanistan to NATO, but still contribute to the bulk of the force. What it means is that The US is bugging out and putting the NATO instead of US into the Media. I sensed that it's a tactic to safe their reputation from bad press
