Tear Gas

Tear gas is used as a chemical weapon in WW1. However, now it is commonly used by riot police around the world to disperse unruly crowds. My question is if tear gas is use in modern warfare will it constitute a violation of international treaties banning the use of chemical weapons (which is a form of WMD)? Thanks

since you mentioned the term "WMD" aka "Weapons of Mass Destruction".... so in which way does tear gas cause "destruction"?
moreover, a country's own civilian law enforcement is not bound by the Geneva Convention. That is why cops are allowed to use "hollow point" bullets but not the military. -
Tear gas is not to kill but to incapacitate. But it's not fun to be surrounded by it w/o a gas mask.

Eh dun pway pway hor... our STAR team guys breathes tear gas without the mask and can still chit chat for 2 hrs straight like no kick like that. hahha.

Tear gas is considered a "riot control agent", and any combatants intentional use it as a method of warfare is liable for imprisonment up till life and a fine not exceeding 1 million. Chemical Weapons (Prohibition) Act 2000[/b] -

I think tear gas is an ideal tool for CQB. Or other types of non lethal gases like those the Russians used on the Chechen terrorists.

at that pt of time u only know ur eyes r very irriating.
n after u get some refresh air,
u will b sort of crying n ur skin is like being bitten by lots of ants.
