AFTER DELL'S YEAR of hell, the outfit has managed to land a contract with the US Army.
According to Forbes, the outfit will provide kit to the US Army under the Army's Desktop Mobile Computing (ADMC-2) contract.
The contract means Dell gets to provide an indefinite quantity of gear worth up to $5bn. There is an option to expand the contract to ten years.
Dell will provide the soldiers desktop and notebook computers, displays, printers and peripherals.
The contract is an extension of a smaller one that Dell had with the Army which was signed in 2001.
Obviously, the army was pleased with the added feature of Dell laptops that they could be hurled at the enemy or used to provide a smoke screen for retreating troops.
