why were Germans U Boats here?
Thought they should be all recalled back to Europe by the Nazis to fend off the Allied Invasion instead of holidaying in this part of Asia....
After WWII, the germans and japanese also worked v hard to rebuild their economies and have great achievement in technological advances... -
There was a U boat group off Java i think..can't confirm..

the pictures are probably from the earlier part of the occupation...
after the initial excesses (sok ching and all that bloody rape, pillage and plunder), shonan-to was pretty quiet and was a frequent R and R spot for Japanese troops on furlough from the chinese theatre (that was where it was the worst for the majority of japanese troops who saw action) as well as japanese sailors...
u have to understand the concept of the greater-asia-co-prosperity-sphere...
doesn't surprise me if the germans stopped by for a brief look-see as well... -

Look out for a Discovery Channel documentary. I saw it about 2 years ago in the UK. It is about German U boats in the Far East.
There was a U Boat sunk near Penang towards the end of 1944 by British maritime patrol planes operating from Burma.
The U Boats were involved in ferrying rare minerals, gold bullion and secret documents between Japan and Germany. The one sunk off Penang was carrying some kind of mineral ore from Germany to Japan. -
I have read from somewhere that Penang have a U-Boat command station servicing their boats in the far east. I have also read that the Hitler intended to set up a German far east corps from german nationalities of the French legion from French Indo China, the weapons and equipment supposly to be delivered, but it never materialised -
If you read More...The Germans transported their Me-262 and FW109's to Japan...Thats why they stopped by Singapore... And thats how the Japs got their own Prototype of Kita... Jap version of the Me262

Any of u watch this anime called Black Lagoon? There was this one episode about a U boat ferrying a Japanese officer back to the far east. On board was an SS officer who was carrying a very valuable painting yada yada... hahah until then i thot U boats operating in the far east was BS. =D

thats how the Krauts and Tommies Wear during world war 2 in asia as well in the desert...their so called No 4 of the Hot climate areas...Usually Europe you see them wear long pants... But those high socks sure looks gay boy...
