What our neighbours have to say is secondary... Its our right to buy what we deem fit.
Look at our Apaches and Formidable class stealth frigates for starters. I suppose tanks would pale in comparison to them in terms of shock value. -

I was making a comparison about the purchase of sophisticated weaponry
... And comparing the impact overall...
To a defence planners of a potential enemy, the frigates pose a far higher level threat due to their long range armament, the potential for the these ships to be used in disrupting maritime trade and communications and the fact that these would be very capable command platforms for our task forces. Much of their true capability remains unknown and would well complicate the plans of adversaries. The strategic value of 6 major warships would be far greater than buying even 100 main battle tanks.
Any potential enemy would much prefer to face any tanks we may have, no matter how new or upgraded, compared to the frigates. -
These are great pics of an improved and up-gunned AMX-13 though.

Light tanks r for speed....Most r like that. The SM1 IMPROVED's main gun fires 12rpm...So speed n firepower n size....It's small size enable it to go n pass through where bigger tanks can't.Originally posted by Seth35:They Sacrifice Armour For Speed... Just wondering, other then up-gunning the main gun of the AMX13, is there a possibility of giving them just alittle edge whe fighting PT91, say by mounting Milans or SPIKE similarly to how the Bradley IFV's TOW launchers are mounted? Don't require that many launchers, maybe two launchers with the ability to carry 4 more as spares would be fair enough I suppose.
