d. 194 Squadron comprises 4 Mine Counter-Measure Vessel and 2 Self-propelled Acoustic and Magnetic Mine Sweepers (SAMMS). These vessels are responsible for all Mine Counter-Measure operations. Also, 194 Squadron works closely with naval divers from the Naval Diving Unit.Undersea Vehicles
The application of unmanned vehicles for underwater warfare is predominantly in the area of mine clearance. Mine clearance in hostile waters can be fulfilled with the Self-propelled Acoustic and Magnetic Minesweeping System (SAMMS). This unmanned, remotely controlled mine sweeping craft is capable of establishing a safe route through mined waters.
3.learn from expertsThe RSwN will be participating with two Landsort-class MCMVs, one Styrsö-class MCMV, a logistics support team and 41 personnel from their MCMV Squadron HQ. One of the MCMVs will be equipped with the Self-propelled Acoustic Magnetic Minesweeps (SAMM) capability. Eleven officers from the RSN will participate in the programme.
4.is it the sonar?Each of the MCMVs is retrofitted with precision navigational systems and more importantly, the tools of the trade. These include a mine-hunting sonar, mine-hunting information system and a mine disposal system.
