Yeah, I have to agree that the main issue here would be one of lack of discipline and not lack of security awareness. As distasteful as some of the videos are, I see no classified information being divulged or anything. Sure, I'd take some of these soldiers to task - especially the one who shot blanks directly at his friend. That's a clear breach of safety procedures - but not of military security procedures.
And I agree that there's quite a bit of sensationalism in the article - no full-blooded NSF or NSman would certainly call that shooting clip to be taking place 'in camp' and call an M16S1 rifle a 'machine gun'.
That's another story altogether.Originally posted by larrenV2.003:Wat if someone sabo u behind your back change your cartridges from blanks to life round & when u carry on with your jester acts....u know wat happens?
U might end up like Bruce Lee's Son a.k.a Brandon Lee shot with life rounds in the act...
My point is how are u going to guarantee that this gun has no life rounds... aiyah i shall not waste my time to those who have yet to serve NS.Originally posted by -[0]-:That's another story altogether.
I find those videos harmless and all we could do is to laugh about it. Since there's no injuries involved, and everything's been taken care of by those 'casts', there's nothing wrong viewing such videos as 'leisure comedies'.
One question, are you stressed out?
And your point is??
I've ORDed so to say. I shall not waste my time on serious people like you.Originally posted by larrenV2.003:My point is how are u going to guarantee that this gun has no life rounds... aiyah i shall not waste my time to those who have yet to serve NS.
Hope to see u in another remake of that and hope that u wun be the next Brandon Lee part 2 being gunned down...
The point is extremely clear. The training safety regulations clearly state that you should NEVER point your weapon at others and squeeze the trigger. If I had been their commander, I'd have given them a severe bollocking and let them mull over their mistake in camp over the weekend.Originally posted by -[0]-:That's another story altogether.

I knew of the rules. And I've pointed my rifle at my mate during BMT before. But the gun wasn't loaded at all. Nope. I've not been caught. So, what have you got to say now that I've RODed?Originally posted by fudgester:The point is extremely clear. You should always assume the worst-case scenario when it comes to weapons handling. You should always assume that the weapon's loaded, and it's loaded with live rounds. It's precisely for that reason that when you're passing your weapon to someone else, you should check clear your weapon first - and the person who receives it should check clear a second time just to make sure.
And even blanks are not as harmless as you may think. Fired at close range, they can cause burns to whoever's at the receiving end. I know, because I've seen people getting injured because of this.
Seriously speaking... have you gone through NS yet? Otherwise, surely you'd know about all this.
Youtube isn't a good choice. Google video is better.Originally posted by kopiosatu:nowadays army boys something wrong with their heads ah?
seems like they forgot the line "do anything you want, just don't get caught"
go and post in youtube, how kam gong is that?

Give the senior management and scholars 1 week along the Litani River front, they will regret wasting their time.Originally posted by SpecOps87:Have seen videos of US Military personnel and Brits being silly...like coastal hook exercise but end up falling and getting trapped in waist high mud. And they laugh bout it. I mean if MINDEF wants a role model, standard military, do they actually know what is a standard or they just follow what is done by other military? Have seen comical pictures of Israeli military as well...no big deal. If they want to have a standard, make sure it is uniform throughout without and dual standards and yes it is a security breach, but did they leak out top secret information or filmed/photographed equipment which is so hush-hush that we are still in denial about it? If no, then I would see that a letter or warning should be sufficient.
Besides, if they consider this as spoiling the SAF's image, then what about the video of some US trooper throwing flashbangs to scare those in the Bradley IFV? Doesn't make sense does it?And seriously, there are more important issues that should be improved and debated on, they choose not to, but pick on this petty issue to issue a public statement. This shows the senior management within has got too much free time on their hands doesn't it?
I've already learned the meaning of looking back at the foolishness of the younger days of my life and learn to take critical actions whenever i do things. So have you...Originally posted by -[0]-:I've ORDed so to say. I shall not waste my time on serious people like you.
Then all I've got to say is that either your instructors were negligent in not teaching you properly, or all those safety lessons which were taught to you never quite struck a note with you.Originally posted by -[0]-:I knew of the rules. On yeah, I've seen that one about the Norwegian peackeepers in Kosovo. That sparked a minor diplomatic row between Serbia and Norway. The Serbian government summoned the Norwegian ambassador and demanded an apology, if memory serves me right.Originally posted by Manager433:How about this video? About Kosovo peacekeepers.....
