Try watching both in German for max effect.
I've watched Downfall (Der Untergang) 4 times and still I'm not sick of it.. The show was nice but why did the German Police kill Kranz's parents?
Obersturmfuhrer
Taegukgi
Watch it and you'll have second thoughts about a "glorious" war.

Here are 3 movies I HATE:
- We Were Soldiers (Hated the book also.)
- Thin Red Line (Trying to be an art film)
- Windtalkers (Trying to be a HK kungfu film. Everytime I see his trademark pigeon scene I want to puke. He should really retire as every film is the same. Someone leaping through the air slow motion firing guns with inexhaustible ammo supply etc...)

2 decades ago I saw this French war film called Dien Bien Phu, about the French defeat in Vietnam. Very good. Gave a good account of themselves and also of the Viet Minh. Very big budget, lots of real Vietnamese soldiers as extras. Beautifully shot for a war film.
