Can't really blame them too because the oil is transported in and then later the petroleum products to be exported by ships so it needs to be near the major shipping routes which is near Singapore.
Did any of you realise that 20 years ago Malaysia built a oil refinery or power station or something in full view of Singapore. I lived in AMK then, one night, we noticed a bright flame at night up north.
This bloody thing with the flame burning from the chimney is belching out smoke 24 hours a day. Not only is it a blight to our scenic view, it is also a source a pollution.
The Malaysians have a million places where they can build this monstrosity - I've drove past it - but they chose to build it near Singapore.
I won't be surprised that they might announce for real or just for fun that the site of their nuclear plants will be somewhere in Johore very near Singapore... knowing them and their stupid little games.
When their plant is 80% complete, we should airstrike the bloody thing before it becomes operational.
The Malaysians can't even be trusted to operate an airport, much less a nuclear plant.
If the world is running low on fossil fuel, people should just stop driving their cars and take public transports and other such measures.
"Cheap" nuclear power will cost us the earth.
Malaysiahttp://www.world-nuclear.org/info/inf102.htm
Malaysia produced 78 billion kWh in 2003, 93% of this from fossil fuels, the balance from hydro.
In August 2006 the Malaysian Nuclear Licensing Board said that plans for nuclear power after 2020 should be brought forward and two reactors built much sooner.
The Malaysian Institute for Nuclear Technology has operated a 1 MW Triga research reactor since 1982.
the chernobyl incident indirectly hurt the whole of europe of parts of asia as strong winds swept the nuclear cloud over the crops in eastern europe, thereby contaminating them. those crops were later exported to western europe and parts of asia. soon after a wave of leukamie swept the planet.Originally posted by alwaysdisturbed:if i'm not wrong the chernobyl accident nt only affect people that were living in chernobyl but also people living in the neighbouring countries. the wind will bring the aftereffects over. so even if u don't hear or see anything, it doesn't mean u will be safe.

despite that incident, i believe nuclear power is still a necessity. unless you're willing to give up civilisation.
