  Hmm? My infantry rifle battalion had a 120mm mortar platoon in the Support Coy.

  Nowadays, all infantry battalions use 120mm mortar. As for the commandos, it is possible they still use 81mm. And the brigade 120mm mortar company has been abolished.

  So today's Support Company has a lot more motor transport than before then? Cos each 120mm tube needs a Unimog.

  E handheld motar is 60MM , 120MM is towed by jeep not unimog

  Used to be towed by unimog, back in the day when it was arty asset. If tow by jeep, you probably need 2 jeeps per tube, right? Cos one jeep probably can't carry the crew AND the ammo, right?
  
  The unimog not only carried the crew but also the ammo.

  No lar, the 120mm mortar is towed onli by one MV vehicle. The ammo and all those stuff all load into the same vehicle.
  
  Personally, I dun like the idea of such a large calibre mortar for our infantry. Bcos, our infantry are modelled more towards light infantry type. Thus the 120mm can only be towed by vehicle is not that are good idea for troops that move using their legs. No Doubt they can stick to the main road, but some places may not have roads suitable for them. I instead feel they should put the 120 into the brigade. Let there be 6 tubes. Bcos, when u comms for arti, u can't garuntee u will get it in time and with precision. The worst is if our network get jammed by the aggressors........... Thus better to have a few tubes at BDE lvl.
