I think you mix them up with the Indonesian muslim clerics who call for sending arms instead of sending volunteer militants to fight Israel.Originally posted by the Bear:
wait until they figure out Lebanon is made up of Druze, Christians, a few Jews, Sh'ites and Sunni...anyway, didn't they want to go send weapons to Hezbollah?

it doesn't make a difference, Malaysia will only send troops only when they think Muslims are being persecuted somewhere .... think Bosnia, Somalia ..... it's about religion, not any feelings of international solidarity .....Originally posted by tankee1981:I think you mix them up with the Indonesian muslim clerics who call for sending arms instaed of sending volunteer militants to fight Israel.

Precisely.Originally posted by the Bear:lately, Indonesia and Malaysia have "volunteered soldiers" for a UN thingy in Lebanon...
but the Israeli ambassador said something really apt: how can we trust any country to protect Israelis if they refuse to recognise Israel?
oh lord ! ... not Haiti ! ...Originally posted by LazerLordz:Precisely.
I'd rather have Indian/Nepalese troops there, with the Brazilian peacekeepers who have done a decent job in Haiti so far.
Well, I still think we should send a regular company there, for specialised tasks like medical field support and engineering.
Did you know why a lot of these countries are volutneering for UN ?Originally posted by ahtansh:OH I SEE Mission, go there to see see only...
Malaysia is among several Muslim countries that have signaled willingness to send troops to Lebanon, a Muslim majority country, under the U.N. flag.
Syed Hamid said Malaysia is still waiting for an official invitation from the world body.
Malaysia wants to be a Muslim brother...
Come to think of it, the SEA countries that have ties are Thailand, Philippines, Singapore (Indo-china countries?).Originally posted by Pitot:...Malaysian, Indonesian or Bangladeshi troops...Israel rejected the thoughts of having countries who dont even have any links with them politically to participate in the Multi-national force. Even Uncle Sam agrees...
a portion of the Brazilian force did do a decent job, but not the overall mission as a whole.Originally posted by Fatum:oh lord ! ... not Haiti ! ...
standby LL, I'll PM you a title of a documentary about the UN troops in Haiti .....
and of these three, which have a working military relationship with Israel, be it announced or inferred?Originally posted by Black Aces:Come to think of it, the SEA countries that have ties are Thailand, Philippines, Singapore (Indo-china countries?).
Given that scenario, perhaps the UN should ask the Thais & Philipinos then. I don't think the SAF will even sent if asked by the UN.
