To think a wide body jet could extend a long load-bearing flap arms out of the rear to re-arm a fighter jet... amidst air turbulence and thus dis-balancing the aero-dynamics of the wide body jet.. is doomed from basic concept.
And to think the weight of the Reloading Weapons travelling along the extended arm would not have any adverse effect on the flight.
Let's say the interception and holding lock between the two planes was possible. Then there is the fighter receiving the weapons... on either side of it's wings.. wouldn't that be a problem of spiraling.
Just a dream concept for swallowing budget dollars.
Yes i agree this is a dangerous operation just like air to air refueling, maybe even more so since it is dealing with weapons.
However, i do believe that one day such a capability will be essential and beneficial to us much like aerial refueling now. I am sure when the idea of aerial refueling is first being brought up, there are as much if not more skeptimism, simply because this have never been done before.
But if the demand for such capability is strong enough, the funding and technological issues will be solved eventually.
