Hmmm... Me had ran through the RSAF F16 serials already... There's two serials previously belonged to the two F16Cs that were lost in 2002 and 2004 now on the 2nd last order... Can anyone confirm that if these two were the replacements?Originally posted by Viper52:USAF Block 52 F-16Ds do not have the spine. And serials do not indicate any aircraft has transferred. I reckon both lost aircraft were not replaced.
Well at least better than the Skyhawks, the Mig-29s will be used for abt 12 years, the Skyhawks were used at most 9 years, most of them at actually started retiring within a few years!!!!Originally posted by Arthas79:I dont know what they`re doing. It`s unbelievable.
Well, me only know that the spare parts that MIGs supposed to be repaired and replaced due to the needed and recommended 1000 flight hours servicing and overhaul didn't materialise due to 2004 budgetry constraints on the military budget, as a result most MIGs have to be grounded... Rumours also said that Russians were very unpleased about this...Originally posted by gary1910:Well at least better than the Skyhawks, the Mig-29s will be used for abt 12 years, the Skyhawks were used at most 9 years, most of them at actually started retiring within a few years!!!!
Anyway , I thought that Mig-29s suppose to go thru I think 1000hrs major overhaul last year????
Did we miss something???
Perhaps MY do not wish to spend money ( or lack of it) on those maintenanace intensive planes!!!
Maybe that's the real reason and not lack of pilots!!!
confirm not happy what...buy their product in the end as white elephant....Originally posted by dork3d:Well, me only know that the spare parts that MIGs supposed to be repaired and replaced due to the needed and recommended 1000 flight hours servicing and overhaul didn't materialise due to 2004 budgetry constraints on the military budget, as a result most MIGs have to be grounded... It's just like the RMAF is interested in getting more MIGs but the Russians are not interested in closing a deal with them... Maybe as the saying goes: Once bitten twice shy...Originally posted by duotiga83:confirm not happy what...buy their product in the end as white elephant....

Nice to see you again anyway
Obviously I miss that , so my assumption is true.Originally posted by dork3d:Well, me only know that the spare parts that MIGs supposed to be repaired and replaced due to the needed and recommended 1000 flight hours servicing and overhaul didn't materialise due to 2004 budgetry constraints on the military budget, as a result most MIGs have to be grounded... OK, here it is.

In addition, a number of RMAF pilots have opted to leave the service for civil aviation, particularly in light of the demand for pilots by Malaysia's low-cost aviation carrier, Air Asia.

Its not that they have no $$ to maintain aircraft... Like they said, they can't retain the pilots they trained. Losing a lot of them to airlines.Originally posted by ah_kwang:hmm... thought they have loads of cash since they are eyeing for AWACs and new frigates how come now no cash to maintain aircraft? Can't seem to understand why they are spending on new stuff while the stuff in their arsenal are left to rot
The RMAF is definitely getting a plane that will project their power but are they replacing the maintenance heavy Fulcrum with a maintenance monster Flanker? Only time will tell.......Originally posted by Shotgun:The Mig-29 has never been a very favorable aircraft internationally. If they were that good... [b]India would have gotten them....
Err....I believe the Indian AF has a fleet of MiG-29s in operation. Furthermore, in conjunction with the Indian Navy getting the ex-Russian Kiev-class carrier, Admiral Gorshkov, the Indian Navy has even selected the carrier-capable MiG-29K.
RMAF is gonna save a ton by storing the MiG-29s. Excellent move. Question is, will the Su-30 cause less trouble, or more trouble than the Fulcrums?

Malaysia has taken delivery of its Armoured Combat Vehicle (ACV) 300-series tracked armoured vehicles fitted with the Pakistani Baktar Shikan anti-tank guided weapon (ATGW).
A contract was placed in late 2000 with FNSS Savunma Sistemleri of Turkey for 211 ACV 300 vehicles in 10 configurations. The 300 in the vehicleÂ’s designation denotes the output of the Detroit Diesel 6V-53T diesel engine in horsepower. The vehicle is called Adnan in Malaysian service.
Final deliveries are due later this year and an additional order is expected to be placed in the future.
Ha ha ha... You call their bumiputra policy as "affirmative action"?? Isn't affirmative action meant to mean giving minorities opportunities, not quite the same ya?Originally posted by huaichien:I guess its down to the ideology of governance. Some countries believe in meritocracy, some believe in affirmative action. So you get different quality of decision makers and hence different outcomes.
