I think the Israeli losses also tells us one more thing. The Hezbollah are not as under equipped as we were led to believe initially. They've got their hands on anti-ship missiles, and hi tech atgms as well as surface to air weapons.
They are not a state army, yet they have such capabilities... its rather worrying don't you think? -

There are definitely some goods lessons for the SAF to learn in the ongoing Lebanon crisis as well..
The SAF should study on why the Israel, despite with their multi million dollars war machines, failed to destroy the Hezbollah after all the efforts.
Where did they go wrong?
We should also learn from the Hezbollah... their strategies in fighting the Israel...
IMHO.. the Israel is too arrogant and they have seriously underestimate the Hezbollah.. I think they will have to pay a high price for the mistake.
High tech and expensive machines just don't guarantee victory... -

If not for the despicable militant group using civilians as shields, They would have already been wiped out!

until now.. i have yet to find an acceptable solution short of a preemptive strike, that took out MAF while they are still in their camps.
while the current defence doctrine of able to absorb the first attack seems nice and as a sign of confidence and maturity of the SAF...
but if the price in terms of casualty and infrastructure lost is gonna much higher then a pre-emptive strike doctrine... i would rather we opt for the later then the former...
ultimately... winning is everything... not how we win it... -

israel is mobilising 3 more divisions. are they going to widen the war front?

Personally i think an all out invasion of Lebanon again is not going to solve the problem of Hizbollah. Wining a war is more than just killing the enemy, there is also the psychological aspect to it.

I remember the recent Mindef video abt 3 SIR Urban demonstration where the Commander of 9 Div said that we should not harm civilians?!?
But in reality, our enemy could be using their own citizens as human shield and that is something we could not do anything abt it, & it should not stop us in achieving our objective. -

in the end of the day.. persistent geurilla tactics n homegrown has advantage. I agree that they should start to use thier nukes liaw.. n when the start nuking... nuke the entire middle east . Problem solved. Lesser evil for the greater good.

Who makes use of democratic system to demonstrate their radical islamic cause.
Then they sparodically hits your HDB or Condos with short range rockets for a decade.
