Are our Challenger class or the future ex-Swedish submarines capable of conducting intelligence gathering operations in and around the region of South East Asia?

Depends on what kinda intelligence u are looking for.
If its gathering emissions intelligence of various vessels, i think its most likely capable of doin that given a good sonar suite, and ESM masts.
Observation of port activities are also possible. Signals intelligence may be a bit difficult as it may require the submarine to operate near the surface for extended periods. Leave those to aircraft i guess?
