For my Korean military service, I was assigned as a translator to the combined U.S. and R.O.K. Special Forces Command, so I know a bit about them and what they do.
I've read your memoirs and am very impressed.
Thank you for reading my memoirs and for the compliment. Thank you too for signing my guestbook.
I've always had the deepest respect for R.O.K. soldiers. They are one of the best soldiers in the world. For example, during the Vietnam War, they were very greatly feared by the enemy. The NVA and Vietcongs feared the R.O.K soldiers more than they feared the Americans.
In the book "Guns Up", a Marine described how he found 9 dead Vietcongs after they were killed by 8 R.O.K soldiers. They found no gunshot wounds among the corpses, although knife wounds were found. Most of the Vietcongs had been killed by the bare hands and feet of the R.O.K, using Tae Kwon Do.
Another book "A Sniper in the Arizona" describes R.O.K Marines giving a demonstration attacking an enemy position. All the Americans were impressed, including the Marines and even Navy SEALS.
So welcome. Nice to have you here. I am honored to have an R.O.K soldier read my memoirs. There's so much that Singaporean soldiers can learn from R.O.K soldiers.
