  I think one shouldn't under estimate the lethality of a sword in a well trained wushu martial artist, especially in CQB.
  
  However, this is not realistic in Singapore's context as it will take years to train someone in martial arts and time is what we don't have as a conscript army. Furthermore that is apparently an old pic so its unlikely they have any of such soldiers any more.
