  Is the U.S. Navy Overrated
  
  

  In 1989, naval analyst Norman Polmar wrote in Naval Forces that during NATO’s exercise Northern Star, “…the Dutch submarine “Zwaardvis” was the only orange (enemy) submarine to successfully stalk and sink a blue (allied) aircraft carrier…” The carrier in question might have been the U.S.S. America, as it was a participant in this exercise.
  
  Ten years later there were reports that the Dutch submarine Walrus had been even more successful in the exercise JTFEX/TMDI99. “During this exercise the Walrus penetrates the U.S. screen and ‘sinks’ many ships, including the U.S. aircraft carrier Theodore Roosevelt CVN-71. The submarine launches two attacks and manages to sneak away.
  
  To celebrate the sinking the crew designed a special T-shirt.” Fittingly, the T-shirt depicted the U.S.S. Theodore Roosevelt impaled on the tusks of a walrus. It was also reported that the Walrus sank many of the Roosevelt’s escorts, including the nuclear submarine U.S.S. Boise, a cruiser, several destroyers and frigates, plus the command ship U.S.S. Mount Whitney.

  USN is not over-rated , yep some submarines targeted a carrier. But the fact is it is only a simulation. Aircraft carriers can take a lot of damages. Even sinking one or 2 is not going to sink the whole USN !!!
  
  Remember the industry might of the US, they will be able to repair or build new carriers.

  Postively, they ARE overrated... They claimed to have the most advanced naval systems in the world and why in the world does they need to extend the lease of Sweden's submarine and just to learn how advanced and superior their systems which they can't even incorporated inside the subs...
  
  And anyone actually knows that in 1997 when there was a bilateral naval exercise between RSN and USN, we scored a direct hit against one of their missile destroyers without having to react to our missile corvettes...

  You want to know why the US are lease the Sweden submarine ? 2 reasons, due to AIP system it is quieter, thus the US want to learn how to counter the growning number of Diesel submarines. - if they are smart enough to know and learning how to improve on it ? are they overrated ?
  
  Is the US leasing the sweden sub really all for exerise ? Maybe not ! Could be all related to taiwan submarine requirement which US promise to build 6 diesel sub for taiwan. Due to China pressure non of the current europe submarines manufacturing companies is willing to take up taiwan requirement of 6 submarines. US have promise to deliver on it, nowever they have stop building diesel sub a long time ago. One best way is to lease a sub and anoun to the world that it is use for training, while in fact they are studying it throughly to prepare the building of diesel submarines for taiwan.

  Friend, what so proud of hitting a USA destoryer with a make in USA harpoon missile, basically it is a US weapon scoring !!! So if US harpoon is so good, is USN overrated ? of course they claim they have the best naval system in the world, you shot their destoryer with their harpoon missile. Isn't their harpoon missile good ?

  You draw your own conclusions... it's a little like celebrating or making a big hoo ha everytime we manage to down or hurt an Apache or Abrams... when obviously anybody with a decent imagination would know that they are hardly invincible, but tough.

  Harpoons aren't preferred weapons to hunt ships via submarines though. How did this discussion end up discussing abt the harpoon?

  Harpoon end up being in the picture, because dork3d boost how in one exercise one of our ship score a hit on a US ship and make the statement that US system is no good.
  
  Thus just reminding him that that hit was score by make in US harpoon or torepdo.... which is make in USA. If it is no good, it will not score the hit.
