Yea i know the tail hook on the F-117 is for emergancy runways i just said they had them didnt say they could land on the carriers. Didnt know the F-16 had a tail hook though.Originally posted by lyzzard:Eerrmmm.... you guys are looking at an overhead shot of the Intrepid Air Museum in New York. The carrier has been converted to house a collection of old military aircraft. Why do you think there is such a different variety on the carrier deck?

And just because the F-117 has a tailhook, it doesn't mean that it can be used as a carrier based aircraft. Quite a few aircraft have tailhooks on them but you would never see them on carriers... F-15, F-16, F-104 etc... Tailhooks can also be used on land as certain military runways are equipped with arrestor cables to shorten stopping distances in emergency situations.
And the A-12 you were mentioning about is the one that would have been derived from the A-6 Intruder if it had been developed. The A-12 Avenger II was envisioned as a replacement to the A-6 but was never developed in the end.
You mentioned the F-117 pretty much in the same breath as the A-12 engaging in carrier ops, so I assumed you were lumping the Nighthawk into the same category.Originally posted by |-|05|:Yea i know the tail hook on the F-117 is for emergancy runways i just said they had them didnt say they could land on the carriers. And the A-12 was developed just never produced If i'm not mistaken some where converted into SR-71's.By extending the fuselage i think.
Man i loved them A-12's and SR-71s

Yes, they are. But they're also all heavily "photo-shopped".Originally posted by molgax:now this is funny
Really? I think they are staged for fun... rather then photoshopped. Firstly because I am a heavy photoshop user and have somewhat a feel for what's real and what's not. And secondly because having being in army, I know that bored military personnel will do rather wacky things for fun.Originally posted by moca:Yes, they are. If it was photoshopped, it must be a really good job!
Well I use photoshop heavily in my line of work in broadcast and general media... it is my job to make photoshop look as convincing as possible. Just my two cents worth, no need to get hostile.Originally posted by moca:Whatever....
No point arguing with self-confessed "experts" over internet forums.

Well, if you have a point to make, just politely make your point.Originally posted by SingaporeTyrannosaur:Well I use photoshop heavily in my line of work, just my two cents worth, no need to get hostile.
The guitar marching one to me looks photoshopped thou.
Well I did make my point in a rather matter-of-fact way, you responded in the lines of that everybody is an internet expert... and logically if I indeed did have the relevant knowledge would it not be prudent and logical to rely in the positive and assure you that I indeed, knew about what I was talking about.Originally posted by moca:Well, if you have a point to make, just politely make your point.
No need to flash your credentials... stake your reputation etc....
After that, it is unlikely you will be reasonable.
You think you're the only one here who've served in the army AND used Photoshop extensively? C'mon.... Singapore is small,, but not THAT small.
