  vf-103 used to be called sluggers. Later they took over the VF-84's name which is the original jolly rogers.

  YEah! Still like the original VF-84! but I guess that was the VF103 last flightfrom CV-67 USS Kennedy airwing!
  
  Sad to see the F-14 go away! My all time favourite..
  
  Saw the last flght of Tomcatters and Black Lions!
  
  I guess Hornets by Mandate... Tomcat by Choice!!

  actually I thought Topgun was a joke in terms of naval aviation! the best of all tomcat movies IMHO is FInal Countdown !
  
  VF-84 and VF-41 all the way! the good old days with full compliments of A7, A6 ...!even RF-8 recon bird!

  still find it hard to come to terms with the fact that Top Gun is using F/A-18. F-14s are virtually the face of Top Gun yrs ago..

  I was talking to a few F-18 and F14 drivers in Oceana NAS and seems the F14 has its limitation as compared to the Hornets... I guess the F14 is an old bird and to upgrade it to current std will require major fundings and changes!
  
  Thus! it is much cheaper for the NAvy to go buy brand new F-18F and Es than tonupgrade the current F-14 fleet ! So Sad!
  
  Besides te maintaince hour to keep and F14 flying for the same mission is almost doublt the men hour over the Legacy and super Hornet>!
  
  So! there we have it! F18 is in! F14 is out!
