We had a big machine gun shoot couple of weeks ago! here are some of the photoshot ....
there were at least 3 M2 browning M2, bunch of MG42, and MG34

never seen a long barrelled P90 b4. quite interesting.
Whats that beside the Galil? It looks quite familiar but i can't name it off the top of my head. Looks French or Belgium made...
i note with interest especially, the M-deuce on the floor. I love that gun!

The long barreled P90 is hte civilian version of the P90 having the regular barrel but pinned with a fake supressor to be legal length of 16"
The rifle is a FN FNC in 5.56mm by the Galil. also a Beretta Ar70
RIght behind me there is a Steyr AUG, P90, Beretta AR-70 and a SKS ( converetd to be like an AK).

On the truck we got an MG3-( convereted MG42 in 7.62x51mm NATO), Thompson M1928 in .45 ACP, Galil AR , MP-5 and a M16 Carbine.

hmm i see about the P90. i had no idea they had legal length limits.
so the one that looks like the G3 is actually a beretta AR-70? interesting. is it an italian copy of the design? -

i see a Tommy gun! and its the varient with the original forward grip too! I do quite like it. Did u guys have the drum mag?
I didn't like the later M1928 varient as much.
the MP5 lookalike is very interesting. Instincts make me think its an MP5 but judging bya lack of SMG mags anywhere near it, I'm tempted to think it might be a HK33, altho from the barrel length, it does seem more like an MP5.
ah. i see. its an MP5 then.
say i wonder how a converted SKS compares to an actual AK? -
in the US, for civilian to own a rifle, the barrel has to be 16" or longer ! if it is not, than it has to be registered as a SBR ( short barreled rifle ) and that needs a very tedious process and a $200 stamped tax just like machine guns ( full auto) and supressors. Although I think the 16" law is kind of stupid.
The AR70 is not a G3 type rifle but rather more similar to the SIG-550 which uses a piston based system. Shoots very good and will take Beretta or M16 magazine ( needs an adapter)

You are right ! my mistake! that is a HK-33K! in 5.56mm! We had so much guns that day, My MP-5 was in my other truck!
The thompson has the drum but was not in the picture. we even have the voilin case to go with the gun... kind of the chicago gangster era ....
The SKS is a differnt system from the AK becasue it is a non rotating bolt system more of a drop bolt system like the FAL! I personally did not like the SKS as much but some people have other opinions on it! it is semi-auto only.
As for accuracy and recoil the SKS handles better than the AK becasue its piston is seperate over the AK and thus reduce thge felt recoil becasue the AK with the attached piston makes it a heavy piece when the action is moving.

lol. quite funny to imagine a violin case for the tommy. but very fitting i suppose. too bad no pic of it with the drum mag.

YEah! AK will be more reliable in everyway. the magazine system is defeintly better than the crumby SKS. As you can see no one really adopted the SKS as the main battle rifle.
My favourite AK of all!
AKSU-74 in 5.45x39mm! I like this over the 7.62x39mm since it is much more controllable than the std 7.62 version. Felt recoil is non existance and we can engage further with the 5.45 ammo! it shoots quite flat! I'll take the AKSU-74 anyday over the MP-5!

For a high-volume shooter, it makes financial sense to handload ammo. For example, in terms of raw materials, it costs me a little under $5.50 to handload 100 rounds of 55 gr. 223 "plinking" ammo for my ARs (the 75 gr. rounds used in my competition ARs cost a little more to handload due to the pricier projectiles utilized). In addition, handloaded ammo is also almost always more accurate, reliable and consistent than commercial ammo.
Of course, if commercially produced ammo were available inexpensively, it probably wouldn't be worth your while to handload. It used to be the case that Russian military surplus 7.62x39 ammo could be purchased here for little more than a song and a dance. However, that particular ammo is currently in short supply (allegedly due to the war in the mideast), and prices have spiked significantly.
(By the way, Dave, that's a nice collection you have there!) -
