Once in a camp in Port Dickson(home to Malaysian armour), I saw a black tank(confirm not Scorpion) with 2 MGs and a turet but not sure what type of gun. Msia should have a small number of light tanks or MBTs which is not officially acknowledged but the quality is not high and most likely from China. In fact, Asia Pacific Defense Reporter once wrote that MAF have some Type ?? tanks from PRC.

The Malaysian Army's recent purchases have puzzled me. The T-84 from Ukraine and the Russian T-90 from Russia are considered more potent MBTs than the Polish version of the T-72. I was expecting the T-90 to win the Malaysian MBT competition, considering the fact that the Indian Army already operates the type and could well pave the way for much defense cooperation given the selection of the Su-30MKM by the MAF which is almost identical to India's Su-30MKI.
The selection of the Turkish ACV series of IFVs have also been puzzling. The selection of a platform based on the classic M113 which has almost reached the limit of its developmental life does not augur well for the long term. Perhaps the decision was influenced by the fact that the Malaysian alrady operates the K200A APC, itself also based on the M113. The BMP-3 would have been a better choice, given its compatibility with the growing number of Eastern Bloc equipment in Malaysian service as well as offering greater firepower and lower ground pressure.
The purchase of the Pakistani version of the Chinese Red Arrow 8 ATGM, Russian Metis-M(AT-7 'Saxhorn') ATGMs, British Rapier FSC SAMs, Pakistani Anza Mk 2 SAMs, Brazilian Astros II MLRS and South African G5 155mm howitzers, amongst a host of other equipment acquired from at least half a dozen countries, would present the Malaysian Army with an inconvenience to maintain at best, and a logistical nightmare at worse.
Of course the above views are purely my own. I am writing from a neutral point of view in which the recent purchases of our Northern neighbours are evaluated from a 3rd party. Any differing views are welcome. -

New coat of paint for the PT-91s? Heard from sources that the parade to showcase the PT-91s, had Polish tankees to drive the tanks, because they had not trained up their own yet.
It was hastily rushed in for the mobile display. -
To all those too clever for themselves, the .50 Browning HMG's primary purpose is for limited air defence. Guns for these purposes need the extra height to pivot itself. BTW, it also has a secondary role to pummel softer targets at distance. No need low profile c/w fragment shield set up.
The tank has a 7.62mm co-axial machine gun to tackle infantry or other softer brained targets. -
I once saw a tank with 1 20MM cannon at each sides of its turret for AA purpose in addition 2 its 125MM main gun its chassis look like e T-72 maybe another modification by some country but can rememder wat its called n by who. Any1 got any idea?

It called e T-72M2 Moderna by Slovakia Republic its also has e 2nd generation Russian ERA -
This way these tanks can be deployed with a lesser SAM coverage. They just need some of these tanks to be deployed together with the normal T-72 MBTs.

The tank looks cool with those twin 23mms. But, I doubt it will be of any use against aircraft. I'm sure a Maverick outranges those.
What they are useful for, is FIBUA environment. -

If you look at the turret pic, external sensors for FCS consist of a commander sight/range finder (higher), a gunner sight (lower), ranger finder and a wind/humidity sensor (the "stick" at the back). I realise that the Malaysian Defence company DEFTECH is a technology partner with UKRSPETS export which is an Ukranian state company for export and import of military and special products and services.
One of their products happened to be the T-84 MBT which is a derivative of the T-72. Therefore i guess there is high chance that MAF have T-84 MBTs in secret before they ordered the Polish PT-91M.
