  It is either he paid a 'bomb' to enjoy the 'joy ride' or it is some standard PR done by the USN...
  
  Anyway, chewing gum doesn't help to decrease the effects of those punishing G-forces. Btw, if you have dentures, better leave them on the ground, don't want you to 'accidentally' swallow them when you just passed out!
