I think those CFT degrade the flight performance of F-16... They are banking on superior electronics equipment to compensate the loss of dogfight capabiltites!

A/c don't go supersonic for long periods also....
Also the F16D+ are strike a/c and you can't place a bomb while going supersonic. -
The Conformal Fuel Tanks (CFT) are designed and shaped in such a way that air flow streams and aerodynamics are not compromised, in the same way, air drag along the airframe surface is negligible... Think of it this way an F-16 with a centerline droptank has it g-limits drops 2 7+ but with CFT it still can pull around 8gs

while walking out of pasir ris fish farm in late afternoon, saw the F16D+ display...maybe for the open hourse. First time see a F16D+ in such close range... seems like it is just 12-18 flr above me.... can clearly see the CFT on it....saw it making quite a tight turn back to paya lebar direction.
then a few minutes later saw 2 apache flying very low across the open field next to SSMC
... should be within 100 meters... saw machine gun some more going up and down ... 
dunoe waving to me or a bit loose .....
hope can see F15SG up close in 2 years time -
Those F-16s and Apaches were for the RSAF open house. I was there.
The interesting question is why our F-16Ds are fixed with CFTs, given that while removeable, CFT aren't drop tanks and they are pretty much stay there once you put them on.
I also saw the prominent "Israeli" spine on our F-16Ds. There F-16Cs were also on display. The Cs don't have these spines. -

I think the CFT makes the F16 looks more muscular but the spine really is a flop from a "beauty" point of view.

I think the CFTs make it look a bit more garang. Thats all. But hey... its free's up 2 hardpoints from carrying fuel. And still have room for an ALQ-131 down the centre fuselage.

Not that heavy weight lar... I think the Su-27 series are much heavier.

Those tat went 2 PLAB did u all notice e HMS sensor on e F-5S,TF-5S,BLK52 F-16CJ n BLK52 F-16DJ.

Noticed our Blk52 D+ pilot HUD is kinda different. Looks more like the HUD used in the blk 40 vipers?
I think we got the most souped up F-5s on earth.... I've never seen a more modernised F-5 c0ckpit... -

Various F-5 versions remain in service with many nations. The most advanced are those of Singapore, which has approximately 49 modernised and re-designated F-5S (single-seaters) and F-5T (two-seaters) aircraft. Similar programs have been carried out in Chile (with Israeli assistance) and Brazil, the former being called the F-5E Tiger III, armed with Python III and 4 (with Dash helmet-mounted cue system) and new radar, cockpit displays, and electronics, and the latter being called the F-5 Plus, with Griffon radars and other improvements. It is believed that the Chilean Air Force F-5E also carry the Israeli Derby medium range missile, proving the aircraft with BVR capability.

I don't understand them seriously. Why modify the air frame? Is the performance gain worth the cost???
