The CFTs won't significantly increase drag in the subsonic envelope.Originally posted by Shotgun:the CFTs don't really degrade perfomance that much really. According to the israelis, the drag increment was negligible.
The Conformal Fuel Tanks (CFT) are designed and shaped in such a way that air flow streams and aerodynamics are not compromised, in the same way, air drag along the airframe surface is negligible... Also the compression and tensile stresses are the same readings as a normal F16C without the CFTs..Originally posted by Shotgun:the CFTs don't really degrade perfomance that much really. no....Greece Blk 52+ F-16C does have them.....and our F-16C is blk 52 thus no CFTOriginally posted by Moonstriker:only the Ds have them...
it makes from a lightweight figther (F-16A/B) to medium weight (F-16C/D) to heavy weight fighter (F-16C+/D+ / E/F)Originally posted by audiovideo:I think the CFT makes the F16 looks more muscular but the spine really is a flop from a "beauty" point of view.
okok..med heavyweight?Originally posted by Shotgun:Not that heavy weight lar... I think the Su-27 series are much heavier.
Always a lightweight until they do something about the wing.Originally posted by duotiga83:it makes from a lightweight figther (F-16A/B) to medium weight (F-16C/D) to heavy weight fighter (F-16C+/D+ / E/F)
maybe for the inside.......but hey Iran has this f5 that looks like and F18!hahOriginally posted by Shotgun:Noticed our Blk52 D+ pilot HUD is kinda different. Looks more like the HUD used in the blk 40 vipers?
I think we got the most souped up F-5s on earth.... I've never seen a more modernised F-5 c0ckpit...
our F-5 can be comparable with Chile F-5 Tiger III and Brazil F-5BROriginally posted by |-|05|:maybe for the inside.......but hey Iran has this f5 that looks like and F18!hah
Various F-5 versions remain in service with many nations. The most advanced are those of Singapore, which has approximately 49 modernised and re-designated F-5S (single-seaters) and F-5T (two-seaters) aircraft. Upgrades include new radar, manufactured by Israel, updated cockpits with multi-function displays, and compatibility with the Rafael Python and AIM-120 AMRAAM air-to-air missiles. Similar programs have been carried out in Chile (with Israeli assistance) and Brazil, the former being called the F-5E Tiger III, armed with Python III and 4 (with Dash helmet-mounted cue system) and new radar, cockpit displays, and electronics, and the latter being called the F-5 Plus, with Griffon radars and other improvements. It is believed that the Chilean Air Force F-5E also carry the Israeli Derby medium range missile, proving the aircraft with BVR capability.Well, at least we are recognised to have the most advanced F-5s by answers.com
