Hi, I was flipping through Pioneer mag and saw a RSAF F-16D+. See similar photo.

Can anyone identify the "bludges" on the airframe and the stores?
I am particularly curious in the pair (left and right) just aft of the radome. -
Those are CFT, conformal fuel tanks.

The smaller bulges located strategically around the aircraft is suspected to be a missile warning reciever. Supposedly able to detect passive missile launches, eg IR Missiles.

I can't really tell the diff between F-16s as yet, besides the single seat and 2 seaters. Besides the obvious spine and CFTs. Our F-16D+ looks almost identical to the Soufa. I do prefer the camouflage scheme of the soufa tho.. hahaha.
Apparently, even F-16C models do differ in appearances , eg between the Block 30 and block 42s. And the F-16A's seemed to have a slightly larger and longer tail. I can't tell the C series apart for nuts. hah. -

The D has longer rectangular-shaped dorsal to pack in the electronics just directly below the vertical fin. Camouflage are just colour scheme and definitely is different depending on the terrain it operates (different country)

One ecample:
One diffrence from the RSAF F-16cs and The USAF F-16cs are the inlets.
USAF carries the big mouth inlets while RSAF carries the small mouth.
This has to do with the diffrent engines that each jet is carrying. -

So what is that bulge on the fuselage, just aft of the radome, forward of the wings leading edge.
No it is not the CFT.
The row of fences between the radome and the c---pit are the AESA antennas?

They are airborne self protection jammers. commonly seen on the korean F-16s.

I believe it is the Advanced IFF antennas (APX-113) (sometimes known as the "bird slicer").

Wait i think we are both wrong. I think he is refering to the bulge next to the bird slicers.

Okay, im referring to the bulges on the forward left n right of nose... in front of the canopy. Similar bulges can be found under as well, and another series of 4 near the ass of the plane if i am not wrong.
Those are the bumps i am suspecting to be some form of passive missile launch warning system. Otherwise, better get a tubload of benzol peroxide, cos this bird's got pimple problems. hur.

The main portion of the PAWS system is in the dorsal spine. -
Could it have something 2 do with HMS???
Like sideways looking targeting sensors for air-2-air missiles like python4??? -
The reason for my conjecture is that the bumps are very strategically placed. Good positions for overlapping sensor cover. Of course, the main processing system of the PAWS could still very well lie in the dorsal spine.

Issue 9 of Jane's Defence Weekly states that the extra antenna housings on either side of the nose and chin-intake are related to Israeli-sourced electronic warfare and and self-defence systems. While not confirmed, Jane's believes that the system installed is a variant of the Elisra Airborne Self-Protection Suite (ASPS) that is installed on Israeli F-16I Soufa.
Elisra describes the ASPS as being a "state of the art" system that incorporates active (self-protection jamming - SPJ) and passive (warning) subsystems and makes use of a range of "proven and new" technologies. Here, the range includes monolithic microwave integrated circuitry, application specific integrated circuitry and multi-miniature travelling wave tubes.
Elisra also notes that the warning subsystem provides wide- and narrow-band reception, a "full" signal parameter measurement capability and a selectable operating bandwidth to enhance sensitivity and signal separation. Data processing and analysis is performed using multiple processors and "special" gate array modules.
Elisra describes the system's SPJ component as offering highly effective radiated power, wideband transmission and reception coverage; wide angular coverage; the ability to cope with a multi-threat emitter environment; and "synergetic coupling" with the warning subsystem. -
