We discuss about many weapons but if our neighbors has nuclear what can we do to protect ourselves? Beg for help?
Iran's Nuclear Threat
In another worrying development, Iran moves closer to operation of a facility to enrich uranium. -
if that happens....then we better make allies with them right and stop bickering about them over small issues.... WINK WINK

If a nuke comes flying from the North, its a matter of time before Johor gets affected from the effects of radiation. There are way too near to be 100% safe from the effects.
So unless they're prepared to radiate their own people, if not........................... -

That scenario will not be likely in the next 10 years. Now assuming our intelligence failed and they managed to develop nuclear weapons, we should do our very best diplomatically through the UN and ASEAN to disarm them. After all, ASEAN members have signed agreements which makes it illegal to possess nuclear weapons in this region.
In the mean time, train our citizens and military to survive and fight in a nuclear environment much like how we prepare for chemical attacks, thats the very least we can do. At the same time also develop a strike plan much similar to what the Israelis did to the Osirak nuclear plant near Baghdad back in 1981, but on a larger scale to cover all potential weapon sites.
PS. Malaysia indeed have a nuclear research facility.

Its called deterence, SAF policy.
if only 1 party has, he will more likely to use.

and to the issue of Iran, i think the possibily of an air stirke is very real, if they are really close to building one.

Iran did it right under US nose and no one can stop them.
Iran said its nuclear program is irreversible, issuing another rejection of a U.N. Security Council deadline to cease enriching uranium that expires in five days.
Earlier this month, Tehran announced for the first time that it had enriched uranium using 164 centrifuges, a step toward large-scale production of nuclear fuel that can be used either in atomic weapons or in nuclear reactors for civilian electricity generation.
"Nuclear research will continue. Suspension of (nuclear activities including uranium enrichment) is not on our agenda. This issue is irreversible," Foreign Ministry spokesman Hamid Reza Asefi told reporters.
The United States and some allies charge Iran is using the program as a cover for weapons production. Iran says it is designed only for power generation.
The Security Council deadline of Friday is not binding, but the United States and Britain said Iran must comply or the two countries would seek a resolution to make the demand compulsory, which would raise the possibility of sanctions.
"Iran won't give up its rights and has prepared plans for any eventuality," Asefi said.
The spokesman said a Russian compromise plan for joint uranium enrichment was still on the table.
Ali Asghar Soltanieh, Iran's envoy to the International Atomic Energy Agency, the U.N. nuclear watchdog, Saturday spoke of a "basic agreement" between Iran and Russia to set up a joint uranium enrichment firm on Russian soil.
The announcement was a repeat of a similar declaration by Iran and Russia in February but details have never been worked out.
"Necessary grounds need to be prepared for its implementation," Asefi said. It still remains unclear whether Iran would entirely give up enrichment at home, a top demand of the West, or if the joint venture would be complementary to the existing enrichment inside Iran.
Asefi insisted Sunday that Iran has not used any advanced P-2 centrifuges in its enrichment of uranium.
Such a device would be a vast improvement over the current P-1 centrifuges, which Iran has said it used to enrich uranium.
Iran's hard-line President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad claimed last week that his country was conducting laboratory research on the advanced P-2 centrifuge, which could be used to more speedily create fuel for power plants or atomic weapons.
"We have not so far used P-2 centrifuges. What we have used has been P-1," Asefi told reporters.
The spokesman, however, said Iran had the right to work on P-2 centrifuge.
"No one can deny us of such a work," he said!!!!
Iran has vowed it would never give up its right under the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty to enrich uranium and produce nuclear fuel. -
Iran have advanced P-2 centrifuges which Pakistan using for its nuclear weapons
They should have a few warheads by now

No, they can`t. It`s not that easy. It will take a long time. Even if they do, we`ll have them too and more of them and MAD applies. And no one`s mad enough or not? Worst for them, they make preparations to make one covertly but will take a long time and we`ll know about it. In return, we`ll simply buy them off the shelf from our `friends'(and no one`s gonna complain or will do anything about it..hah..the irony) and it`ll be an Israeli-Arab equation in SEA. And that`s bad for them since they can`t do squat though we won`t be sitting too pretty ourselves. -

ASEAN has its usefulness but ties itself in knots over the simplest of issues and is quite powerless to act militarily or even on economic issues(given the internal problems some countries face). Its true power lies in informal diplomatic pressure but even then, the limits are quite apparent as in the case of Myammar. This is especially the case when they are hardly united on many fronts.and the nuclear powers would allow anyone in this region to go nuclear?
Proxy control over a new found and considerable threat(Islamic or otherwise)..I would think so. -

If our neighbours have nuclear capability, we do absolutely nothing.
There is no way we can be nuked without the weapon wiping off Johor and maybe even parts of the Riau islands as well. Radiation will hit a wider area.
What good will it do our neighbours if they have a weapon that will kill both our nations if used? -
All neighbouring countries in the region will be protesting big time - Brunei, Indonesia, even Malaysians themselves. The proximity is too close to feel safe. Scarly aim Singapore, but targetting computer screw up hit Indonesia how?
