HESCO - CONCERTAINER DEFENCE WALL SYSTEM
Concertainer® from HESCO is acknowledged as the most significant development in field fortifications since WWII. It has been a key component in providing force protection since the 1991 Persian Gulf War. Typical applications include perimeter security and defence walls, equipment revetments, ammunition compounds, personnel and material bunkers, observation points, defensive firing positions, guard posts, explosives and contraband search areas, highway checkpoints, border crossing checkpoints, and protecting existing structures.
Structures built from Concertainer have been subjected to testing with charges up to 20,000lbs. Correctly configured, a wall made from Concertainer will mitigate the effects of truck bomb attack. It has also been tested and proven against small arms fire and RPG, and is used extensively in the protection of personnel, vehicles, equipment and facilities in military, peacekeeping, humanitarian and civilian operations.

I think SAF already using this for the protection of important installations such as camps' entrances. One example which i can quote is the 'bunkers' used in Jurong island when they 1st set up defences there. As for whether they are still in use, i am not sure.

yes, PDF has been using this for many years.

I honestly didn't know we using this let alone have this, I've never seen it before and neither have they ever brought it out to show us, in fact one the previous ICT I did they still gave us those bloody sandbags to fill almost 800 FREAKING SANDBAGS SOMEMORE MAN ... s hit
.. somebody shud shoot S3 he must be slacking.

To build a 2-man post, it took abt 1200 sandbags to fill up these concertainers. U think filling them are difficult, removing them are worse!
But to think of it, i rather use these than dig. -
I assume that using these HESCO boxes the nice part is that you dun have to use sand all the time maybe even durian sized rocks or thick branches are tossed into it, this is good as sometime they give you everything except the sand ... you got to go dig up the sand yurself ...Originally posted by evq:Are u from PDF?

But I suppose also if you just using it for a shellscrape then it make more sense to pack a few sandbags.

They are known as "protection walls" or "Prowall". simply hessen cloth within steel mesh like in the photos. JI has a nice stage made up of the prowall, plus other toys which I shan't bore everyone with.
The sandbag still has got its uses. As oevrhead cover, as parapet for stairs to your underground '3 room flat' (those in the know, know you need some 3,500 sandbags for this feat).
The humble 2 man shelter needs some 150 sandbags each, multiply for each man... (do the maths to know how much is needed to defend every 100m of shoreline...)
A sandbag is both labor intensive and can stop a bullet at range (150 to 300m), any closer and you better dig deeper. If need be sand can be poured directly into the Prowall but for better ballistics protection, fill with sand already in sandbags is recommended. I am looking at proposing another product as alternative for sandbags... collaspable cellular grid mesh inplace of sandbags for overhead cover.. anone interested? -
shud develop a way to dig a fox hole faster .. 6-9 hours is too long and too tiring have such a thing or not ? pls help to develop
I have a way but I think it will never be approved but you will dig up a full size fox hole in 2hrs record time or less but quite expensive .. interested?
ok firstly lay with white tape the foxhole size you want. then bore small holes within the parameter of white tape encompassing the entire surface.
Next use low yield(very low yield) detonators and put them into the holes. Then stand 100 meters and let it rip. 1 detonator cannot do much, but 10 detonators can do quite a bit
The idea is to loosen the compacted soil and break up any small boulders so it makes it easier to remove. tsk .. see thinking soldier
