It'll be one shiny vehicle blazing in the sun if we use solar.Originally posted by ditzy:How about solar? Most of the time its just waiting to ambush or waiting to be ambushed. Make hay while the sun shines.
do u think so guards will use? I dun think so guards will use ...Originally posted by teddy123:maybe Terrex will be use by our Guards 21 Division
just like how LAV is being use by the US Marines ?
The infantry units can use the Bronco ATTC for improve mobility.
Seems like 21st is the only Division that lacks a suitable AFV.
It is possible that it may be deployed as part of any future peacekeeping force.I sense that the SAF is focusing more on the expeditionary aspect of it's ability.Originally posted by four-niner:I roughly know for what kind of operation it will be used for liao but I won't say, and this is not to counter any system other people have in the region.
Actually this has been anticipated for a while, just that for the longest time they never want to implement it until now and I also agree it's quite timely that we should now have this.

IF this report is true, then I guess the V200s used by the ASU should be replaced by Terrex in a few years time.
These vehicles can be assigned or attached to various Guards or Infantry brigades, providing support when the missions requires it.
Wheeled APCs provide better protection when compared to transport by 5 tonners for certain types of missions.
Organisation will be different from amoured units (ie. the vehicles may not be organic to the Guards/Infantry units, unlike armoured units).
I used to be from a Guards unit that operates with the V200s from ASU. I've always wondered about the use of the new Terrex.
In addition - the Terrex can be used as platforms for other systems like mobile SAMs.
Well they spent god knows how much on four 40 year old subs, only to use them for a few years and now they're spending another xxx million on two 30 year old subs to replace 2 Sjoormens.Originally posted by Paladin:Same sentiment.
But to think that they just send few ten million upgrading the V200 and now its gonna be scrap in a few years time...
On the other hand I appreciate the Terrex for its internal space. The infantries will have a much easier life mounting and dismounting from the IFV..
The Vastergotland (A17) class SSKs we are buying are not 30 years old, more like 20 years.Originally posted by sgf:Well they spent god knows how much on four 40 year old subs, only to use them for a few years and now they're spending another xxx million on two 30 year old subs to replace 2 Sjoormens.
The Sjoormen class subs were already top-notch in tropical water ops.And the Vastergotland-class's introduction, has caused some ripples in the regional military community who have followed the RSN's ability throughout the years..Originally posted by sgf:Well they spent god knows how much on four 40 year old subs, only to use them for a few years and now they're spending another xxx million on two 30 year old subs to replace 2 Sjoormens.
it happened both, in the Baltic and in our tropical waters. It was the first time that a submarine had stood ready to fire on an USN Carrier.Originally posted by teddy123:Our Sjoormen sub exercised with the US Pacific fleet (last year ?) and succeded in penetrating the defences of a CVG(Carrier Battle Group) and fired a torpedo (simulated) at the Aircraft carrier.
This are old news, you can find them by doing a search on the old thread.
Our Sjoormen class sub are not junk lah
Not yet, anyway
