Hmmm, the M'sian leadership has changed but apparently the behaviour of its military brass is still enshrined in its Mahathir-era game-blaming attitude.Originally posted by bcoy:Interesting piece of news. Before - it was the Royal Malaysian Navy the conducted the test launch. Now that the tests have failed, the reports read - Matra BAE Dynamics was actually conducting the tests.
The 2.5-metre-long Sea Skua weighing 1.45 kg is an all-weather, day and night sea skimming anti-ship missile equipped with a semi-active radar homing head that can sink a ship from a distance of 18km.This is taken from the first article from Bernama. I find it amazing that an anti-ship missile of 2.5m with the all-weather, day and night guidance system, fuel and warhead which can sink a ship from a distance of 18km only weighs 1.45kg?
BAE sells anyone new technology ..... if they pay in cash (read: no palm oil) ...Originally posted by donchoo:Shsss. BAE selling them new technology.

Now this is really funny.
I like the sentence "dropping like a stone into the sea"
That means what? The missle plummet down into the sea upon realease from the lynx? If its that, i can imagine the horror on the face of the pilot and the WSO.
Well, I believe their starburst MANPADS were procured way before we procured the Apaches.Originally posted by Fatum:I read somewhere they've got the starburst MANPADs .... designed specifically to killed pop up attack helicopters ..... a cheap counter to our apaches ? ....
dun worry the skua failure is a small setback, we have plenty more to testfire, next year we will export even more palm oil, sell more rubber or sell more raw water to buy even more armaments from our russian suppliers who are more than willing to give us anything we want, how much money are you planning to spend next year?Originally posted by Black Aces:OOps! Hope our 'mini-curses' and swearing here (about the launch) did not play a part in this high-profile failure!
Now, what should we turn our attention next? The RMN Scorpene? or its SU-30MKM?

Btw, since you mentioned that you (Malaysia, Truly Asia) will export more palm oil (I believe you are referring to higher revenue due to oil prices?), why not your national oil company help to defray the cost of oil in your country and help your countrymen with their day-to-day costof living? All are Malaysians what!
P/s Why are you so interested in howmuch I'm planning to spend next year? Come to think of it, I'm planning to visit your country next year, any exciting place to intro?
